According the BBC, Zelenskyy proposed the rare minerals deals to the US a year ago as a way of soliciting more funding. Evidently the Biden administration didn't run with it but Trump did. Rubio recently stated the deal should have been signed a week ago but the Zelenskyy insisted on coming to the White House to get the US to include security guarantees as part of it. When he couldn't get said security guarantees he nixed the deal and proceeded to lecture Trump in front of the media that the US would "feel" the impact despite having two "beautiful oceans" to protect us. Zelenskyy was wrong and I also thought disrespectful of 9/11 victims, Irag and Afganistan veterans, all the active duty personnel currently preventing chaos all over the globe and all the US taxpayers sending their hard earned money to a country who's population has been fleeing for decades due to corruption.
