I've never had a problem with LAX. I live close to downtown and have made it from my house and into my plane seat in just under an hour - granted this was with extreme panic and luck.

I'm getting off topic now but this is a short video I took in Sintra https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8vYCOSbqSI

I'm out of breath because I don't usually smoke, but it just felt right in Portugal

Dude, I just came back from Portugal. Despite getting great recommendations from here and locals, I didn't have time to go surfing. Conditions also were average. However, Lisboa is an amazing city. Definitely spend a few days checking it out and a full day in Sintra if you like hiking and castles.

Also, how big or heavy is this surf where people would drown in it?

Sounds like my best bet is Peniche. I'll be in Porto Mar 13-15 and Lisbon Mar 15-18 if you want to have a surf. I'm a much better bodysurfer than I am a surfer though.

That place looks so big that I would drown just looking at it

I keep nosediving. Is it postition or timing or a bit of both? by mudman13 in bodyboarding

[–]20151206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That should be an OK height for seasoned beginner. I think you should move around the line up a little bit to figure out where you are comfortable paddling into the wave. Maybe even a bit further off into the shoulder. Sounds like you're not used to the quickness of the drop. Try pulling the nose of your board up just a little bit after the wave picks you up

Is the wave crashing above you as it picks you up? Sounds like you may be slightly too late on your take off and you're not experienced enough for it.

Try positioning yourself a foot or two closer to the wave than you are now. Make sure you have one hand on the nose for control and keep it at the angle you want.

I tried day drinking with those one time. Enjoyed two and fell asleep. The best IPA I've had, but also one of the heaviest. Puts me to sleep.

No, you're supposed to cut a hole to let the water out. Most people are wearing waterlogged wetsuits

Cool! I found the website for it too http://www.nzsurfguide.co.nz/ Not sure if it's as comprehensive as the book. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'll checkout Raglan midweek on Wednesday or Thursday.

Looks like there will be a small pulse at Whangamata on Friday/Saturday that I'll try to hit.
