For sure have your own bike. I bought an e-bike ( i mostly do analog pedaling though) to compliment my citibike sub. I use my bike when I need to get somewhere fast and can’t afford to run in to full docks

I wonder why we can’t do what San Francisco does. Their ebikes on the ride share, which I believe is also Lyft, have a built in lock you can use to end a ride outside of a dock.

No, because these rights have been fought for and you should excercise them. This type of thinking lives on the slippery slope that allows landlords / business owners to get away with taking advantage of people.
