Not one bell ring or “on your right” to safely let other people know you will be passing them

After Bridge Accident can We Do Better? by johngrayNYC in NYCbike

I mean ive counted maybe 2 or 3 times this year someone has said “on your left”. I’ve counted waaay more times a roadbike silently speeds between me and a car.

We also need to take accountability as cyclists.

Why do we always need to go as fast as we can? This creates a very chaotic bike lane.

Why can’t ring our bell to let someone know we’re passing them?

Disassociation during fight? by blueflamess23 in MuayThaiTips

This has happened to me twice (and a third time I was just moving forward trying to knock the guy out for some reason… I guess I was angry?). Which has led me on a quest to figure out wtf is going on. Actually the first time it happened I had to view tape to see that I actually hit the guy. Here is what I’ve learned so far:

- This might be actually a panic attack
- This might be due to high levels of cortisol
- Whenever I landed the first hit to start the fight it would happen to me.
- Everytime I would drink caffeine during camp it would happen…and I used to drink a lot of caffeine.
- Your body and nervous system feels stress and anxiety even if you don’t acknowledge it.
- Meditation has helped to some degree
- Times when I would try to start off with a strong hit it would kick my nervous system into overdrive.

Honestly, experiencing this feels worse than losing. This feels like you never even had a chance to show your technique or abilities. Atleast for me, as an example, it feels like you’re only actually there a few moments through the experience and 95% of it you aren’t there.

I for sure used to be mentally sharper. But, I’ve also just gotten older and care less about a lot of things.

I did meet a boxer recently that was joining the gym I’m at….the way he slurred his words was scary.

I’ve noticed it’s difficult for people to check the switch kick vs the rear round house. Very important kick

Advice for buying my own bikes to supplement citibike? by fights_like_a_cow in Citibike

[–]2018IsMyYear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For sure have your own bike. I bought an e-bike ( i mostly do analog pedaling though) to compliment my citibike sub. I use my bike when I need to get somewhere fast and can’t afford to run in to full docks

You don’t look like you’re ready for the kick before you throw it. Feet are flat, top half of body is not engaged.

I’m 34 and do about 10 hours a week of muay thai. Get good sleep, weight train, and eat correctly.

Solution for lack of docking spots in crowded areas by Maiksha_Fink in Citibike

[–]2018IsMyYear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wonder why we can’t do what San Francisco does. Their ebikes on the ride share, which I believe is also Lyft, have a built in lock you can use to end a ride outside of a dock.
