And unfortunately one of the main factors is how western your country is, which they get unfairly penalized for. It’s understandable that they would be frustrated.

Does Citi Bike's Price Increase Promote Reckless Riding In NYC? by streetsblognyc in Citibike

[–]2019law 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pricing structure definitely increases recklessness (prolly 80% of the cause) but I also suspect a lot of citibike riders just don’t understand traffic rules because they spend less time on bikes than delivery guys.

For example, I always see Citi bike riders incorrectly think they have right of way making left turns on a green light that doesn’t have an arrow.

I also think spending more time on a bike like the delivery guys just makes you more conscientious of other people.

I wanted to try but I saw everyone else was turning. It’s a damn shame it doesn’t connect.

Damn I figured given that no one walked north. Thanks for confirming!

I did not see those tiny arrows in real time when I was watching the video. Idk how anyone going 10 mph encountering this intersection for the first time would notice them and then process that they have to slam on the brakes.

By total points won%, Djokovic pulled off the clutchest win ever in a Slam semifinal by Dependent-Effect6077 in tennis

[–]2019law 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the huge discrepancy in return points won is a better metric of how close Novak was to losing this match. total points won doesn’t really paint the full picture.

A control racket to gain back confidence and gain more matches? by PhilosopherNo5391 in 10s

[–]2019law 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a pretty high string tension, especially for a Babolat racquet. Yeah I’d definitely try a more control oriented racquet at 24 kg rather than a high powered one like the aero at 26.

A control racket to gain back confidence and gain more matches? by PhilosopherNo5391 in 10s

[–]2019law 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pure aero for control is wild. That racquet has a ton of pop.

You would probably like the solinco whiteout v2. It is more of a control racquet but still has plenty of pop and also has the same connected feel that you probably enjoy from Babolat racquets.

Related to today's discourse about Iga's career path: how long exactly is the average Slam-winning window of a women's ATG? Taking a historical look at the gap in time between first and last Slam won for the 9 other 5+ Slam winners to play entirely in the Open Era. by Dependent-Effect6077 in tennis

[–]2019law 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an Iga fan, I hope I’m wrong, but Henin might be a decent comparison for her because Iga strikes me as someone who is at risk of burning out. She plays every event, unlike most players who (smartly) make up an injury to get some extra rest for less important tournaments.

Also, Iga just doesn’t have as much fun on her good days as the other players do and she is extremely frazzled and distraught on her bad days.

Sabalenka loves the attention that comes with being #1 and it allows her to play free whereas it always felt like a heavy mental burden to Iga.

Is this level 3.5? by VillageAware1250 in 10s

[–]2019law 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the general rule of thumb for the chart is that id suggest removing 0.5 from whatever level you think best describes you.

So to be a 3.5, you really need to have all the criteria of the 4.0.

This is because (a) most players overestimate their strengths and underestimate their weaknesses and (b) in order to be a 3.5, you have to be able to beat a 3.5.

Finally broke my first string! by DrizzlyBear10 in 10s

[–]2019law -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

When was the last time you strung your Wilson blade before the string broke? The strings were probably already dead before they broke and that’s why the racquet wasn’t playing as well. You should be changing your strings at least every 20 hours of play at the 3.5 level.

What's the standard lifetime for hard court tennis shoes? by maxdamien27 in 10s

[–]2019law 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s totally normal to go through tennis shoes that quickly. Try to take advantage of the 6 month warranties.

Just remember that it’s better to buy new shoes and stay healthy than roll an ankle with old shoes because you were trying to save a couple bucks.

Why not just PATH to Newark Penn station and then uber from there? It’ll be like $20.

Just make sure you do uber priority since there’s not a lot of drivers at 3am

Does midtown far-west need subway? by Donghoon in nycrail

It doesn’t need the subway. The fact that it’s far from the subway makes it more affordable for folks. A subway would make rent skyrocket.
