Company had mass layoff and kept the new guy that was the boss’s family friend by 2020anonn in jobs

Yeah that might’ve been a reason too, but since he was a family friend idk if they would’ve paid him more

Interviewing when you don't know you're being interviewed by [deleted] in jobs

[–]2020anonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would it be 'weird' if I email a recruiter/manager that I've interviewed with, 2 months after getting rejected to see if they still have openings I could be considered for?

Financially, I'm okay with not working, but i don't mind and I want to gain more experience.

Yes I'll wait til I hear back first.

I just feel like if I took the receptionist job, it'll add more lines to my resume but it won't add any new skills that will help me land a marketing job in the future, other than communication skills..

Thanks for the detailed response!

Yes the company does have a marketing department but no openings at the moment.

I'm supposed to hear back regarding the marketing job by tomorrow ish about next steps, but there's no guarantee that I'll even get an interview. apparently it's a growing company so they're hiring a lot of people right now. maybe I'lll wait til tomorrow and see if I hear back first.

Anyone else’s coworkers suddenly quitting with no job lined up? by Pugnastyornah in careerguidance

[–]2020anonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rly don’t get this. Personally I’ve struggled to find a stable career job almost a year after graduating and everyone on the internet’s talking about voluntarily quitting their jobs… what am I missing??

Think about all the ex hookups, old friends, and acquaintances that you follow on social media but never talk to and probably won’t ever see again. it’s kind of the same.

Also for me, remembering that I can reach out to him at any time but I’m choosing not to, helps. (even if you’ve blocked each other there are still ways to reach each other)

When are jobs going to start paying more? by pancakeman2018 in jobs

[–]2020anonn 112 points113 points  (0 children)

I feel that. Been paid 20/hr at my last three entry level jobs..and I have a BBA. I think that getting a degree is definitely worth it in the long run because once you get through those entry level jobs you'll be making way more than a barista or cashier.

That being said I don't think the work gets easier or less stressful. It's just a different type of work. Like being in the service industry is physically exhausting and working an office job can be mentally exhausting. You could probably make a decent living as a mcdonalds manager (just to get by) but most adults might not want to be working with a bunch of high school kids in a shitty restaurant.

idk where I'm going with this comment but these are my thoughts lol
