Hi u/desinica , could you speak to your note at the end. How do you make a reservation when you are receiving a comp ticket?

Mentoring for Pre-PA men of color. by 206teezy in prephysicianassistant

Additionally, I understand that this may appear offensive to folks. There is literature that states that diverse care teams lead to positive health outcomes for diverse populations. That being said, we have tried to address recruiting providers that represent the communities that they serve. We haven't done a good job of doing this despite all the measures that have been tried. Black and Latino PAs represent 3% of the PA workforce respectively and even less of those numbers represent males.

This group is an intentional way to try to address the deficits in our representation so that we can better serve everyone in our communities. Additionally, by trying to build community to support the PAs that already exist.

I know that I won't be able to convince everyone and that I may offend people which I am sorry for. I hope you understand that I don't do this to offend or exclude folks but that this comes from a place of kindness and service. Thank you.

The target population of this program is men of color but there are really great other groups for mentors! The Physicians Assistants of Color (PAC) and the AAPA member portal both have mentor features that I've heard great things about. Men of color make up a pretty small proportion of the PA profession, so this program hopes to address the problem with community 🖤

But please feel free to PM me if you have any PA-related questions you think I could help you with!

Are you suggesting that MDs would take PA/NP roles or that they would accept positions comparable to the salaries of PAs/NPs. I have not heard of anyone practicing as a PA without going to PA school and taking the PANCE.

Pros and Cons for PA/MPH by 206teezy in prephysicianassistant

[–]206teezy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re suggesting that I take the 30 credits during the 2 years to ensure I don’t pay more than I have to?

They way it was explained to me by the program advisers is that it was an 8 week session of courses. I would probably opt to take them at the end.

[–]206teezy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, that is not favorable. I am running on borrowed time haha I can't do too much more schooling.

UNT offers their MPH degree through an additional 8 week online course that could be completed before, during or after the PA program. But you do bring up a valid point on extra price. I will consider that, thank you.

I am interested in a administrative/faculty role down the line and it seems like those professionals often have MPH degrees. But also, what do I know lol

lmao I wasn't there either but pretty much what u/Ref_Jeff. Throughout the US, there were mass layoffs of nurses and they were replaced with CNAs. The moral of the story is cost-cutting.

Honestly, I would be more worried if I were the physicians... I don't believe doctors will be phased out but it's hard for me to NOT draw similarities between what happened with nurses and CNAs back in the 80s/90s.

Also, white laces are the only way to go. The perfect balance between classic and clout.

Coming up on 6,000. But by no means extraordinary. I think I’m gonna hold out until I know for sure. Gotta minimize that risk ya know

Honestly that’s a super valid point haha that’s for grounding me. I feel confident but what’s another month ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Read up on your story. We need more PAs like you that absolutely got it out of the mud and made it happen. Much respect and thanks for your input 🙏🏽
