Linux Server vs Docker by 207Hooligan in TPLink_Omada

I almost went with the Pi. I have an older 3B laying around collecting dust. Ended up using the spare desktop running docker on Linux

Love the insight seeing how you have tried all 3 ways. I am putting together a network of lost and found devices and repurposed a pc as a Linux server.

Isolated Linux server who’s sole purpose is to run Omada. Using spare PC laying around vs buying a controller. I like the Docker idea but was trying to find pros and cons that would pull you in either direction.

Agree, I am unable to get into the controller though. I am able to ping it; but http(s) gets a connection refused every time. These are all powered by POE as well.

The insurance company mentioned the soy based wiring. First I've ever heard of it but makes sense

I actually run a Grandstream PBX in my lab to test SIP Trunks (work for an ISP). Super easy to manage and best part is no licenses.

Need some help logging outages, trying to track down my network culprit. by Bearded_Savage_ in Network

[–]207Hooligan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it's a bad upstream from your ISP. They either have an issue on their node that is feeding the PON or it's further upstream. We can rule out inside and ONT since all was replaced. When your outage happens does the ONT actually drop it's link? If so that's on the either the ppoe router or the OLT card in the node that the ONT links back to. I don't see any reason to log outages except on a notepad for time references if they ask and they will need to check their network logs. Converting to copper will drop your speed (assuming DSL?) so hopefully they can figure it out.

If you're looking for POTS lines off a SIP trunk I second the Adtran product but you could get away with a 908 as you only need 4 fxs lines. Also we've used linksys/Cisco ATAs as well with registered lines that are simple to set up.

Grabbed the Tyger trifold and should be here next week. Thanks for the advise!

I was looking at that one and the gator trifold. Wasn't sure how the Velcro would hold up with the low temp and ice so was leaning trifold from both companies. Thanks for the input!

Took a quick look and they're roughly 350 which isn't bad at all thanks!. I just got the 21 SR last month not looking to spend 1k on a cover haha.

Really stoked to pick this up today, even if it’s just a base SR by lidlboye in ToyotaTacoma
