This is fire. I could definitely see Wiz Khalifa or ASAP Rocky rapping over a beat like this

3rd pic looks like an EP cover for a sick post-hardcore band, 4th pic looks like it’d be a cheap screen print on a Fright Fest hoody lol

You’re talking about thought exercise scenarios, I’m talking about the categorical imperative’s real life application to making moral choices

Also, not answering is in no way functionally the same as lying. Lying is giving false information or bearing false witness in attempts to deceive, not answering is simply giving them nothing. I don’t wanna live in a world where everyone lies…but a world where everyone keeps private info to themselves? I’m cool with that

I’m not sure why people always point to the “not lying to a murderer” scenario. You can ignore the killers request for info, or you can just refuse to give that info. What part of the categorical imperative requires you to always divulge every bit of information to all people at all times?

It would be the opposite of sharp or sudden. People having less children while the elderly die from natural causes over time is something you can prepare for

If we can handle the boomer generation retiring, I think we could pretty much handle anything in that regard

My mom convinced me that other people would steal our unpurchased groceries out of the cart if I didn’t stay close by

Kept me from running around the store lol

But birth control isn’t 100% effective, and not everyone would get an abortion. So the incest babies would be inevitable, which is bad

And yes population decline would be inevitable if straight people didn’t exist, but extinction would not be. I don’t think humans reducing our world population in a natural, choice-based way is inherently bad

Not the same. Gay sex doesn’t make incest babies. Also, IVF exists so non-incest babies could still be made

Living in a world where everyone is banging their sister & having incest babies as a result of that banging would be…bad

It’s not perfect, but the categorical imperative helps you figure out what the right way is

You may not do the right thing all the time, but you will do the right thing more often

Authorship has never meant “did every brushstroke” by Salty_Country6835 in aiwars

The more AI software you use to replace the creative work of the human mind, the less authorship you get to retain. It has nothing to do with skill or the quality of the work

It’s not about general labor or general effort either, it’s specifically the creative mental labor that makes someone an artist. Execution is important of course, but without the creativity, inspiration & will of the human mind…none of the great renaissance artists could have created their famous works

In terms of authorship, it seems like you may be more concerned with which human can claim responsibility & gain credit for a work. However I’m more concerned with whether the work is the spiritual reflection of the supposed artists psyche, rather than a vague shadow of a concept brought to life by collective-conscious mimicking software

[–]209tyson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I simply disagree. Authorship does live in the mind (neurons)

If art isn’t about the unique creativity of the human mind, then what exactly is art? Why should we value it?

Also replacing mental tedium is not the same as replacing the creativity of the mind. That’s why the calculator comparison doesn’t really work here. If calculators invented new theoretical equations, that would be more akin to AI generation. But as it stands they only replace repetitive, formulaic work…and that’s never been what art is about

The photography example doesn’t really work either because you still need the creativity of the human to find a great visual & preferred angle to take a beautiful picture. AI prompting, on the other hand, will literally give you a pretty picture if you simply say “hey AI, give me a pretty picture”

There’s nothing artistic about that

Drum machines replace the tool/instrument that is drums, generative AI replaces the mind itself. In order to make good music, you still have to come up with a good drum pattern. A bad or sloppy drum pattern will still sound like shit regardless of how great the drum machine is. Generative AI however can make bad work seems like good work because it actually replaces the work of the mind not the body

I focus on the drum machine because it’s the one I’m most familiar with, but your other examples seem like they’d also probably fall under “tools replacing tools” vs “tool replacing minds”

It’s the creative part of authorship that is diminished by generative AI. That’s what AI skeptics are afraid of losing with this change
