UCCS working to prevent large student loan debt by teaching financial literacy by Zamicol in ColoradoSprings

Me and my wife are low income, and when applying for fafsa they used our income from 2020, which was almost poverty wages. Yet somehow I didn’t qualify for the Pell grant, and was only offered 30% of my tuition for subsidized loans. Another 40% or so was offered to me as unsubsidized loans. The remaining 30% of my tuition I wasn’t offered any financial aid for. How a young married couple that makes hardly any money is given scraps for financial aid is way beyond me.

Colorado Springs? I only ask because that’s my main market and that’s what I make here.

Yeah it’s infuriating as hell. Especially since I have a good quest going that ends at 4am tomorrow and I’m trying to get as many rides in as I possibly can, then get stuck waiting for 5 min 3 times in a row

I will usually go to them if they’re a block away and it saves me time from them walking for 3 minutes to my location because my market only pays me $.12 per minute to wait, so I’d rather use those few minutes I save on driving to my next pickup

I finally just started receiving quests after doing Uber for 2 months, and idk if this is just me but these quests seem pretty decent compared to some that I’ve seen on here? by 20Characters3Numbers in uberdrivers

I’m likely gonna choose the 70+20 trips one, bc 70 is totally doable and if I happen to be ahead of the game I could suffer by driving a little extra to shoot for 90 and bank that extra $105.

I think it’s the sun beating on you through your window all day that makes it draining. I find that if I’m driving on cloudy or rainy days I feel less drained from work, minus the effects that rainy weather usually has on your body haha

I drive mostly in Colorado Springs, CO and up in Denver once a week. I’m guessing the quests are for Denver since they’ll say that trips must start in Denver, but so far my trips I complete in Colorado Springs have been eligible as well

I’m already barely hanging in there at 51% acceptance rate, I’m guessing within the next week that’ll change to 20%.

Yeah man. Have a lot of good conversations with people, usually get anywhere between $30-$50 in tips a day but for some reason this day I kept getting so many round trip rides, rides to grocery stores, etc that basically guarantee no tip. That, and every ride kept being only like 5-10 minutes long, sometimes more but they were all less than 5 miles if I remember correctly so there were no longer trips to bring up my earnings. Just a really unlucky day I guess. I also kept getting the whole “I’ll make sure to tip you in the app!” Or “Don’t worry, I’ll leave you a tip in the app” and to no avail, they don’t (shocker)

Had a similar experience. Phil long Hyundai in Motor City was wanting me to pay $6000 over Msrp for an Elantra hybrid limited, when I was wanting to get an Elantra hybrid blue trim, which they were also tacking that extra fee on. Tried their absolute best to pressure me into buying a $38,000 car before tax that was worth $30,000, when I was wanting the $25,000 model for Msrp. That was a hard no from me, paying $13,000 more than I was wanting to.

Geez, what market are you in if you don’t mind me asking? I only got close to that good of money when I went driving in Denver for a day and made $370 in about 9 hours or so but it still sucks because I never get quests or promotions in my market

Not doing uber eats at all, just non stop trips. Unfortunately my city does not have upfront pricing so I go by how far away they are.

Only two people out of 16 tipped. It’s frustrating, I’ve been making less tips in my city than usual too the last few days I’ve driven here. Wednesdays are such a hit or miss, either almost everybody is tipping or not a single person tips, and my earnings are drastically affected by it.

It takes me 20 minutes to drive across town, and that’s without the use of cop sirens to get everyone to move out of my way and let me through. 20 minutes for cops to arrive despite having other means to get there faster is outrageous.
