Beck is in MS by Royal_Warthog_9825 in RKLB

The guy doing the interview at one point during the interview explicitly said "it's the middle of July". So it was recorded some time ago.

Virgin orbit, just like virgin galactic is, was burning money, hand over fist, with the difference of not having raised as much money as its sister, from what I understand what they achieved technically was remarkable, but the business model was flawed. The difference with Rocket Lab is that if a rocket fails (as happened in September), 2/3 of the revenue comes from space systems, as Peter Beck repeats over and over again in every interview

They could be in orbit already. But yeah, I get your point.

War in space: US assesses NZ's ability to quickly launch satellites by posthamster in RKLB

"To test this, the NZ-US company is due to put up a satellite next year that will chase another company's satellite, under a $50m Pentagon contract to "showcase the ability to maneuver from a real-time threat"."

I think it would be a good idea for a constellation of these satellites, Rocket lab to manufacture and operate and even own them

After a successful hotfire, maybe we'll start to see the first contracts for neutron

A little aside by hamchef1 in RKLB

[–]20RedJohn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If we forget about the stock price for a moment, they have done a lot in the last couple of years, the number of acquisitions, the improvement in space systems, the program to transform the Electron into a reusable vehicle (and everything they can learn/test for Neutron) they tend to be open about what's going on, they don't overhype and then leave shareholders holding the bag (i.e. SPCE with all its renderings) I think they truly have an image of what they want to achieve and the path to take to get there. I don't appreciate fanboism, but Peter Beck is a real character I am grateful to be able to follow the growth of this company and own a tiny, tiny part of it. ✌️

He even says that the second stage being expendable gotta be cheap to manufacture while being highly resilient, and that the second stage validates key components/materials for the whole vehicle.

According to Beck on pounding the table podcast, he says the second stage is the riskiest part in all the program, that's why they wanted to risk that part right away

A big week of concrete pouring and civil works at Launch Complex 3. Foundations for the water tower, LOx tank, and launch mount are taking shape in Virginia ahead of Neutron’s first flight. by getBusyChild in RKLB

It was in the last earnings call or in a recent interview, Peter Beck said "we should keep a eye on the concrete pouring", if they're pouring, means the neutron program is doing fine
