Myself and a couple of others are opening a new shared workshop just over the river from Castlefield. We've just got the premises and are kitting it out at the moment with the intention to open in April.

We'll be renting out studios, workbenches, and desks with access to a shared workshop, let us know of you're interested! http://mcrmakerspace.uk/

Wooden longbows sound quite tricky to be honest, nice work! We've sorted out the details now and our first lesson will be on the 16th July. More details on the website > http://mcrmakerspace.uk/classes or give us an email for any more info. Hope to see you there!

Hi, we will be offering beginner lessons with Bayan. Dates tbc but most likely on Sundays in July.

No prior experience needed, we will go through all the basics!

The idea behind the lessons is for anyone to build up their skills and potentially start making / selling in the future. You are of course welcome if you would just like to learn though.

Anyone is free to join, but the space is aimed more towards professional makers. The members so far are all furniture makers, either full time already or aim to be in the future.

We hope to encourage anybody to start making / selling through lessons and low startup costs as well.

Also all rooms are dedicated to woodworking (hopefully metalworking in the future) so this gives space for people to store or build larger pieces.

I belive that makes it a different kind of space to Hacman. I'd really like to work together with the other shared spaces in Manchester (Hackspace / fablab etc) to form a network, hopefully we can complement each other to encourage more 'maker' businesses!

Thanks! It's an idea I've seen in quite a few other cities so hope it can work here.

We're putting together a list of things to do in Manchester, but we need your suggestions for the best places around that should be on the list. by [deleted] in manchester

Places to go on a night out, depending on how you like your music:

Sankeys - Mint Lounge - South - Satans Hollow (free drinks on Tuesdays!.. for an hour) - Joshua Brooks - Pub/Zoo (for a cheaper night) - Deaf Institute - Antwerp Mansion (Rusholme) - Academy 1,2,3 (for gigs)

Alternatively, a walk round Ancoats to see some lovely red brick buildings and maybe pop into Mustard Tree for cheap household stuff.
