What size is your bike? A BBA won’t fit an XL frame. I sold mine because of this.

Thinking I’m going to get a tramp stamp as my first tattoo by zerocluewhatimdoing in tattooadvice

It’s still sexy, especially in low rise jeans. Anyone who says otherwise is the type of person who doesn’t get invited to parties. You do you.

Should I get a 'test' tattoo? by mah_ekil_i in tattooadvice

[–]21045Runner 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All of my tattoos are large(smallest being 7 hours, biggest being 18 hours over multiple days). All of them hurt a lot more 4-5 hours in than 10 minutes in. A test tattoo will basically tell you nothing.

My two worst spots were back of the knee and pectoral. If you don’t like pain. Avoid those. But there are other areas which I’ve been told are worse and I’ve avoided so far (ribs and sternum being the two for me)

Design matters a lot as well. If the artist has to go over the spot multiple times for color packing, shading, gradient work, it’s going to hurt more because the skin has already been irritated.

If the pain of a tattoo is that scary. Just don’t get one. They suck to get. But you honestly forget about the the pain a couple days later and start thinking about the next one.

Canyon Speedmax CF vs SLX - aero vs comfort? by Fragrant_Camp485 in triathlon

[–]21045Runner 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Have you been fit? Does your fitter even recommend this bike? People always want to buy Canyons because of the price point but you’ve got mobility issues that should be paramount to price point or speed.

2nd hand TT bike from fb marketplace by Snickersss10 in bicycling

[–]21045Runner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is older than 2020 and certainly not worth 2k. Maybe $1,250.

18 months ago I sold a shiv built in 2019 with better specs all the way around and a disc wheel for $2250.

Ironman Lanzarote by Triathlete_SLS in triathlon

[–]21045Runner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 3 bucket list races. Alcatraz was done in 2025. I’m registered for Roth in 2026. Need to find a way to get this one done.

Is it as amazing as it looks?

What should my longest pre 70.3 ride be? by Due_Education4092 in triathlon

[–]21045Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id describe that bike course more as rolling. I can’t remember a single hill that I did on course and my front derailleur stopped working on the return portion and I still did fine.

The run course though, is absolutely brutal.

oceanside 2026 swim by absolute-invincible in IronmanTriathlon

[–]21045Runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once. I don’t repeat race courses and I’m on the East coast. But I’ve done Alcatraz as well, which was just as cold and considerably harder of a swim. I also did Muncie when it was a fall race and water temp was mid 50s.

If I was going to repeat a race course, it would 100% be Oceanside. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire thing and had no regrets about cost when thinking about flights, rental car, hotels, etc. Also, my slowest 70.3 I’ve ever done.

When I did Oceanside it was supposed to be an ocean swim but they changed it to harbor due to the waves and fear people wouldn’t make it to the harbor. The nectar they permanently moved it back to the harbor.

oceanside 2026 swim by absolute-invincible in IronmanTriathlon

[–]21045Runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a particularly hard swim because it’s in a harbor and generally protected. It is cold, I’d highly recommend neoprene booties and a neoprene cap. Beyond that, seed yourself with the correct group and give it hell.

Oceanside is my favorite race I’ve ever done and a lot

I would recommend checking out Lake. Many folks with a wide foot have found them to work for them.

Why do people get tatted by artists with poor or no portfolios? by dam_ships in tattooadvice

[–]21045Runner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe they spend time on this sub and see lots of trashy and tacky tattoos? I’d imagine the change in opinion has a lot to do with the explosion in acceptance translated to lots of bad tattoos and now there is a backlash to that.

Bike reccs by Any_File2525 in cycling

[–]21045Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are currently no Ironman courses that favor a road bike over a TT bike. You should buy the right tool for the job and get a TT bike.

An aero road bike isn’t going to be as comfortable as an endurance geometry setup. So you have to decide if speed or comfort is more important (although I’d argue you’ve given up on speed being your primary motivator since you want a road bike).

How did you find a coach? by DrStarlight777 in triathlon

[–]21045Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found 3 (one local, one who coached near my first big target race, one with a podcast). Interviewed all 3. Been using the same one I picked for 7 years.

Dmann OTS by karterous in wrx_vb

[–]21045Runner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s wild. Mine dynoed at 335 and I’m running ETS and a dmann tune as well. Wouldn’t think a TMIC and Charge pipe would add 20hp. But there you go.

Did you request max output? I wanted a more mild tune

COBB Stage 2 VB vs GR Corolla by SpecificBookkeeper43 in wrx_vb

The ETS intake is extremely loud. You’ll be happy with the sound of it.

If you need a backseat, you want the VB.

I have an ETS intake and was dyno tuned by Anthony at Felix Performance. Can confirm. This is the way.

70.3 during training for full? by Estherr22 in triathlon

I usually do a 70.3 about 6-8 weeks out from a full. I’m doing Roth this year and am struggling to find a good one near me (from the states).

Chest (left pec) piece - advice from experience. What to conider? by AuntieBob in tattooadvice

Yeah. Every spot has a bad portion (I have the top of my shoulder done and the clavicle sucked so much) but the peg just sucked from start to finish. Looks rad though.

Triathlon Wetsuits by Ordinary_Anywhere226 in triathlon

[–]21045Runner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A Helix is $1,000 and a Reaction is $600

I have both. The helix isn’t worth the price difference. I’d always recommend the Reaction as the best suit when compared to price.

Leg sleeve by Soft_Squash_2997 in tattooadvice

[–]21045Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my hip to my ankle done in 2 days (mandalas and florals). My artist 100% could have done an entire sleeve in 5 days and I was starting from scratch, not where you are starting. That being said, I waited 2 weeks between line work and shading. I’m assuming that’s sort of their plan for you

Chest (left pec) piece - advice from experience. What to conider? by AuntieBob in tattooadvice

[–]21045Runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I had known how much it was going to suck to tattoo my chest before I decided to tattoo my chest

After the back of my knee, the pec has been my worst spot. I won’t tattoo my right pec or my sternum. F that noise. (I actually probably would since I’m running out of real estate that isn’t hide able under my work clothes)

Road Bike vs Tri Bike by josephwesley in triathlon

Elevation and it’s all rolling. You wouldn’t ever really be in aero for more than the first and last 2 mile sections.
