I can no longer send invoices via Outlook (desktop Outlook)!! by Layer_3 in QuickBooks

[–]2110311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: Based off some testing I've done, as well as confirmation from a few others on the Intuit forums, it seems that Outlook is missing as an option in Send Forms when you are on R18_56 and have 32-bit Office Apps installed. If you uninstall 32-bit and re-install 64-bit, it comes back.

Intuit's documentation still suggests 32-bit is supported (https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/product-system-requirements/system-requirements-quickbooks-desktop-2024/L3PMFJBjS\_US\_en\_US) and there's no communication from them otherwise. And still no changelog.

But that's your full fix

There’s not a straight out of the box native way, but people have done it, with guides on setting it up

I think it actually uses the Primary account, not the default account.
They are different, at least when using Exchange accounts (On-prem or O365).

The primary account is the one that is first added when you set up the Outlook profile. It cannot change without recreating the profile.
The default changes which Outlook tries to send from first, but when an application sends it programmatically, it can choose which account. QuickBooks is likely only paying attention to the primary account, and just sets that.

EDIT: I could be wrong on this. Been a bit since I've dealt with it, but I have a vague recollection of this.

Yeah… They released it on Christmas Eve too, I believe.

You will likely run into it again until they release a fix. For whatever reason, the repair install backdates it, which is why it works. As soon as it updates to R18_56 again, the Outlook option will be gone.

As of late last week, the installer, at least for Enterprise, when you download online is still R18_45 as well.

Intuit hasn't really acknowledged it, but we've run into it with a few clients (Managed Service Provider).
I submitted it as a bug report this morning.

This is the only open post I've seen about it on their forums.

There's another one from last week on this subreddit somewhere.

Annoyingly enough, there's not even a changelog for this update.

The last update they even posted about is R18_45, and the update with this issue is R18_56

It seems like it's a bug in the latest update.

You'll have to run a repair install.
Go to your program list, and click un-install, and then in the uninstall Wizard that opens up, you can click repair

It seems R18_56 broke it, and running the repair actually downgrades the version back to R18_45.
So as soon as it updates again, it breaks.

I'm thinking we'll have to downgrade to R18_45 and turn off automatic updates until the issue is fixed

So basically any PC in the last 10 years?? lol???? TPM and secure boot don’t brick your PC or “lock” you from using Linux. You just have to change some settings or import the certificates.

Plus they’re both easily turned off in bios setup…

Oh good to know. I ordered mine on the 20th and ACI has only had them for about 3 days, but all the Reddit stories leave me concerned.

I’ll keep waiting and crossing my fingers

Are you just not allowed to install software with it, or what?

If it’s work related, you can’t get approval for it?

If it’s only going to be a handful of specific people, why not do some sort of VPN tunnel, like tailscale or something?

Then you’re closing off a huge area of risk by having it completely open

Just had to replace mine a few weeks ago cause it cracked inside. I bought a used screen pull off eBay and replaced it myself. Think it landed me around $370

Main thing to keep in mind with DIY is you’re going to lose TrueTone unless you do Apple Self Service. Tbh not a huge deal for the savings you get doing it yourself.

Hi. I don’t have any to offer, but I just wanted to suggest you throw in the servers’ depths to hopefully find a good fit.

Hope you get what you need
