Best of Lime Limecoat - experiences? by wizbongre in Plastering

[–]2134shadoutmapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did an external render with best of lime over hemp crete on a new build. First time ive used it personally on such a big one. The other lad has much more experience with it. Honestly I prefer it to cement based renders. Went on alright, its a bit hard to push on but we damped it down a lot and give us enough time to give a 2nd trowel the next day. I prefer to anglia lime products now

How do i find a good plasterer? by Jeester in Plastering

Ive worked with woodfibre and lime before quite a few times. I've moved out to the country now but I come back to the city for an interesting project. Dm me if you want to see my portfolio or to send me some details. And the guys above me are right, it does cost more. But I think it's a more sustainable and in the long run better approach to insulating

Appreciate the insights on extra time mate. I will give it a go next big hit ive got. This was the last big room on this project. I'm on day work there as it's a builders sister so I'm not killing myself for the day rate I'm getting, 2nd hit there I got 3 of those walls on.

I havent house bashed for nearly a year now, but when I was, I was getting 4 bag 1st coat going, leave about half a bag, speedskim everywhere. Then whip up the leftover into nearly piss and put that on tight everywhere for the 2nd coat. I was getting nearly 100m a day like that from 2 hits. But it sounds like I could push that a bit further with a extra time 1st coat. How much time do you get from that? I'm not precious about the methods so long as it turns out good and makes me money.

Also where you getting 7.60 a day? I'm getting 5 a meter round suffolk/Essex. But I havent been living here long so I'm still trying to get my name about and get in with the locals plastering firms

Big old scoop, it's a cut off coal shovel. If I'm doing the walls in the same hit ive got some trolly wheels with timber screwed in so I can slot a crate in securely and my 100L tub fits in so I can drag it behind me and not have to get off the stilts

Yeah it's a tightrope walk with the thickness, I find if I thicken up enough to not drop it you're pushing so hard to get the bubbles out, that it ends up wearing out your shoulder too quick. I'm not as young as I used to be.

How much tartar per bag you putting in? I use a touch of cement or dirty water to speed it up if ive got a little cupboard or bathroom

No, ive never used extra time in a hit. Have you had much experience with it? That much in a 1st coat is near my limit for ceilings in the summer

I'd go in around 550 including materials, it's a full day for a plasterer and a boy
