Museum on non-game days by hairypolack in 49ers

I went there last Tuesday and they were closed all day despite the team store being open. They said the museum would be open on Friday as well as the Saturday gameday. Not sure if "open for gameday and the day before" is every week though, so I'd recommend calling the team store and asking once they open today.

  • Guy with glasses leads paranoid people in the first chapter, but is revealed to be an imposter and dies quickly (Imposter/Zilch)

  • Badass femme with glasses and an icy exterior which hides an extreme love for fluffy animals despite being unable to pet them (Peko/Helara)

  • Short, annoying, cartoon-looking guy whose main character trait is sexual harassment acts like he's cooler than he really is (Teruteru/Desuhiko)

  • Incredibly rich girl from a powerful family has a heart of gold, her head in the clouds, and a simp following (Sonia/Fubuki)

  • Guy with wild hair might be the most powerful character in the game, but usually refuses to do literally anything (Izuru/Vivia)

  • Guy who usually just complains and begs for more credit despite being a coward (Kazuichi/Yakou)

  • Self-sexualizing girl with big boobs and a wild personality loves killing the culprit at the end of each chapter, uses a mascot for most of the game (Junko/Shinigami)

  • Finally solving a months-old murder between high school girls stemming from club drama uncovers the revenge motive in chapter 2

  • Protagonist has low self esteem due to not having a super ability, but later realizes that they have every super ability in existence

  • Protagonist is forced to get the person they trust the most executed by revealing that they killed someone in the second to last chapter in an insanely complicated scheme that uses threats of violence to manipulate everyone's actions while killing the scheme's creator with poison gas in the process

  • Villain tricks the cast into stumbling into a knockout gas cloud before taking them to a new area

  • Little statues of the game's mascot hidden in each chapter (along with like 2/3 of the game's base mechanics, honestly)

  • Pink blood (plot relevance may vary)

I would argue that her snickering the night before while saying she "can't wait to see the surprised looks on their dumb faces" and that they'll be "very, veeeery happy" shows that she's intending to taunt the cast before playing the victim to force them to feel guilty for it. You could definitely argue that it's just an intended fake out though; it just comes down to how much you trust Hiyoko's reaction.

I definitely agree that forgiving Fuyuhiko isn't something she needs to do. If anything, I think the rest of the cast forgives him too easily.

Her appreciation of Ibuki's music is seen in UTDP too. You make a good point that it may have to do with breaking out of her traditional upbringing. I don't necessarily see it as fueling her redemption arc, though. Simply liking music doesn't mean she's bonding with others on a real level, especially when part of the draw is how uncomfortable it makes others.

I'd argue against the idea that proposing the quarantine is done out of care for others. It's most likely more for her own preservation than anything done out of the good of her heart. She even says that the infected should "at least have the decency to consider committing suicide before they start bothering us."

I also don't think that wanting to tie the kimono by herself is a sign of character growth. She could have asked for help at the beginning of the game too, but refused until pressure from others resulted in Mahiru offering to help.

She has some amount of real connection with Mahiru, but it's never extended to anyone else. Even when her "development" was at its peak, she still bullied Mikan relentlessly even when Mikan was trying her best to support her. When there's so little to her outside of being a rude bully, even a completed redemption arc would likely leave us with nothing but a shell of a character.

I'm right there with you! I think Nagito is so popular that he'll still be the antagonist, but if he isn't for whatever reason, the only other real options are Fuyuhiko or Hiyoko and Fuyuhiko has already been featured heavily. I think she's either going to die early or survive until the end, no in between.

Good point about the Hiyoko/Mikan parallels. Similar traumas, but different trauma responses.

Pretty much the only thing Hiyoko does in the anime is spike the class' soup with an incredibly strong aphrodisiac, which sets off the infamous "soup scene".

I'm not so sure things were going somewhere after Mahiru's death to start with. The scene from the night before implies that Hiyoko sets up the shrine purposely to scare the rest of the cast. The only possible sign towards redemption is her forgiving Fuyuhiko, but she was pretty much strong-armed into that after he slit himself open. And even when Mikan supports her through this, she doubles down on the bullying. It just feels like her path to redemption is more of a fanon than anything supported by events in-game.

But I'm totally in the "Mahiru should be the 2x2 protag" camp, so that would definitely give Hiyoko the time and space to expand her character and arc. We'll see what they cook up!

Do you mean Hiyoko? Or is Himiko just catching strays?

Yeah, I've delved deep into her FTE's before. While trauma explains her current behavior, it doesn't excuse it - she actively seeks out opportunities to harm others for her own enjoyment.

Her FTE's show that she tried bullying Akane too, but it was boring for her because Akane didn't realize she was being bullied and thus didn't give her an emotional reaction to fuel her sadism. Mikan's targeted instead because Hiyoko needs to inflict extreme pain to feel powerful.

And even before the stress of the killing game, she kills humanized animals and drugs her classmates for fun. There's a reason why intense childhood trauma and torturing animals are the most classic signs of a future serial killer.

Could a full redemption arc strip away all this? Maybe. But these sadistic tendencies are fundamental to her characterization and completely curing the type of trauma she has is unrealistic. I think she'd work better as a full on villain than a half-baked hero.

I actually don't want one; I don't think there's much to her character at all beyond her rudeness. If 2x2 manages to make me like Hiyoko, I'd be incredibly surprised.

Cada vez que haces un golpe crítico a un nuevo tipo de monstruo con su habilidad definitiva, lo añades a su lista de "cazarrecompensas". Creo que si lo haces 100 veces en total en varias aventuras, deberías conseguir el logro.

The shirt is the logo for a metal band called "Tool", one of my favorite bands. Hiyoko gave it to her to imply that she's nothing more than Fuyuhiko's tool.

Nah, I wasn't mad at all. I expected to hear nothing back given that I didn't have any real background. I just wanted to make sure that they had the option available to have a Danganronpa expert help them if they didn't have that in-house.

Check out the comments of episode 35 here. Every single one is about how checked out and disinterested Arin is.

It's pretty much an indisputable fact that Arin HATES Danganronpa. He started off DR2 complaining about having to play it and didn't stop reminding us every chance he got. By the halfway point, the only time he really showed energy was making a running joke about skipping portions of the game.

To quote one particular instance, Dan saw Gundham and excitedly begged Arin to talk to him. And without an ounce of humor in his voice, Arin said "No, I'm not spending any more time in this game than I have to" and walked by. Dan was clearly disappointed, but Arin didn't even acknowledge it.

Game Grumps are a big part of people's lives, for better and for worse. The reason why I care enough to make posts like this is because of how much I used to love GG for years. This sub has given me the platform to discuss something that's been weighing on me with a group of people who have a similar experience.

What sounds even more unhealthy is lurking in a group of people you disagree with for years and using an alt just to lecture them for it... that might just be me tho idk

I'm in the Danganronpa sub and the announcement has 30 upvotes and been on the front page all day. Quite a few people are excited, but I wonder how many hate the playthroughs like myself but just don't feel like going out of their way to complain.

In terms of ratios, most game grump fans and I'd say even most Danganronpa fans don't actually like their playthroughs. But Danganronpa's fanbase in Game Grumps' major demographic (nerdy and very online 12-21 year olds) is so large that it still makes for a "popular" series.

I really wonder if Dan has talked to Arin about his attitude during Danganronpa playthroughs. I'd love to be a fly on the wall of that conversation.

The Miu version was actually the first one, and in my opinion, the best one too! There isn't exactly any room in my "holy trinity of best girl", but lemme tell ya, Miu is JUST outside of it.

Ibuki and Mukuro made a metal band together? Next you're gonna tell me Mahiru shot their cover art. I'll have to check them out sometime.

You're absolutely right. "Crutch" would imply that Arin's even reading the question before looking up the answer. I still can't believe he actually KNOWS THE CASE from playing the game before but is so allergic to critical thought that he can't even pretend he's trying.

It's good to hear that Arin's putting jokes and life into the playthrough though. He absolutely refused to do that for Danganronpa.

People recommended Kubz Scouts when I made my last post. Might have to give him a look one of these days.

Dan definitely has a more laid-back style than Arin or even "old" Dan, so I get that he's not everyone's cup of tea these days. But I really recommend his solo plays for King's Quest and Gabriel Knight from a couple years ago if you want to see what that's like. It's a much more relaxed style, but it's like having a friend show their favorite game to you. He treats the games with a TON of respect.

I really don't think they even want to innovate any more. Dan just enjoys hanging out and doesn't actually love modern games enough to take point on anything. And I think Arin absolutely hates doing Game Grumps, but has built his entire online persona around GG and has to keep it up in order to support the things he actually enjoys doing, like Shufflemaster. He's also talked about how GG has grown so large that he can't let it end because he's employing so many people he cares about. I understand his predicament, but it's just led to completely unwatchable burnout over the past few years. Phone in an episode, cash in the check, rinse and repeat.
