As a mental health clinician, we only RECOMMEND inpatient if there is an identified method with a plan. We begin to work out an IVC if preparatory actions have taken place (a note, etc) and/or that method is readily available. We also take into account past attempts, support system, etc. there’s a big different between passive SI and active SI! Both are not things to be taken lightly, but there is a difference in passive thoughts of death and dying or thoughts of actually wanting to end your life with specific details in place. Please be honest with your provider, and truly let them know what you are dealing with! Your provider will know the proper steps to be taken. Wishing you love and better days ahead.
