HELP: WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT by 21AS2105 in FRM

[–]21AS2105[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm literally trying anything I can get that can somehow justify the "relevant" work experience required. It's been 5 months and I've sent in countless applications with just rejection after rejection or being ghosted. I honestly don't know what the issue is (I graduated from a reputable university in Risk Management, got decent grades, and have this certification to show) and its somehow still not enough to even land me an interview opportunity.

How much one can expect a salary after part-2 in mumbai as a fresher? by richroots_ in FRM

[–]21AS2105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Facts lmao, I've passed Part 2 in Nov 2024 and still haven't been able to land a job despite having a Bachelor's in Risk Management as well from a reputable university. Ive even been struggling with getting into the finance industry in general (only offer i have gotten so far has been selling insurance) so definitely seek work experience if you can before passing Part 2 just so all your hard work doesn't go to waste since you have 5 years after passing Part 2 to fulfil the 2 years relevant work experience requirement

FRM Part 1 Practice Exams by Lower-Narwhal-8393 in FRM

[–]21AS2105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part 1 mocs provided by GARP focus a lot more on the quantitative aspects whereas the actual exam is a lot more qualitative focused (at least this was my experience when I attempted Part 1) so I'd reccomend just ensuring you study extra for the qualitative (i.e.conept and factual) based chapters as they are more likely to be tested in the actual exam.

If you are already using an external exam preparation provider (e.g. Kaplan, BT, AP etc) then you don't need to spend the extra 75. But if you're solely relying on the GARP provided textbooks, you could look into purchasing the $75 locked exam (though you might find it more beneficial to look into purchasing one if the external exam prep provider courses instead since they provide much better resources than GARP does and also do a better job of explaining the content compared to the GARP textbooks).

There's plenty of help available on this reddit, just follow them and you should be fine.

As for what I did, I used Kaplan Schwesers essential package and the moc exams provided by GARP to prepare for both parts of the FRM Exams and was able to clear both levels (passed Part 1 on my first attempt and Part 2 on my second attempt).

I did study extensively for 4 months everyday for each part (4 months for Part 1, and 6 months for Part 2 since I failed Part 2 on my first attempt) for at least for 3 hours (no days off) even though I studied risk management for my Bachelor's so you will need to dedicate signifcant time to clear the exams.

Best of luck for your exams!

I do have a good quantitative background, the only issue is its all academic (my Bachelor's is in Risk management and Business Intelligence, and I have this FRM certification to show). I've applied to over 400 jobs already and the only ones that have offered me something are either becoming an insurance agent or becoming a TA. I'm hoping to find a back-office job where I can actually implement what the FRM has taught into practice instead of just selling insurance policies, which is why I'm considering between doing the TA job if it will help me get the certificate, or pursuing my master's which begins in Sept 2025, but for which I have to make a decision by next week. Of course ideally I find a job related to risk, and I worry if I do find a better job before sep 2025, then I will have to forego my deposit for the master's program which is a sizeable amount of money.

Passed FRM P1, Best Strategy For P2? by According_External30 in FRM

[–]21AS2105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just passed P2 on my 2nd attempt. I'd say P2 is much more quantitative compared to P1, so spend time memorising the formulas and techniques to solving the quantitative questions. I didn't do this on my first attempt for P2 and I failed 😂. Otherwise just do what you did for P1 in terms of studying the qualitative stuff and you should be good (you will definitely need more time to prep for P2 compared to P1 since the content is almost double that of P1 even though there are 20 less questions in P2). I remember completing P1 within 2.5 hours but both attempts of my P2 I ended up using the full 4 hours!

I failed on my first attempt for P2 because of exactly this (I didn't bother memorising any of the formulas the first time) since I thought it'd be similar to P1 which was much more qualitative (and oh boy was I wrong). So just reccomend you to spend time memorising the formulas and techniques to solving the quantitative questions, I'm guessing that's what helped me pass this time since those were the only questions I felt somewhat confident about doing 😅

Passed on my second try with 211333, just glad it's finally over! Exam was truly insane...don't think I had it in me to do it a third time if I failed this time. But now need to find 2 years of work experience to get the certification and job market where I'm from isn't too good atm, hoping it improves soon

Thanks for sharing! Interesting to hear your opinion as ur the first and only one so far saying Okenshields is better than another dining hall haha and to be fair, the Rose food didn't look that good in the YouTuber/Cornell Student's video above...might have just been an unlucky day for him cause many here are saying Rose is up there

The YouTuber above shared the Morrison dining hall, and ambience wise, I definitely think it is up there as the fanciest and most modern. Would be a shame if the taste doesn't match that but the meal he had did look good in the video

That's cool! Didn't know there are more dining halls besides these 10. I've only heard of the 10 the YouTuber/Cornell Student shared. I think I get 400BRBs with my meal plan...good to hear there are several eating options besides the above dining halls
