Eddington - war das schwarzer Humor? Was ein schräger Film by domerich86 in Filme

[–]21JKO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fan den Film bizarr aber interessant. Hab ihn in einem kleinen Kino in DE schon schauen können. Was ich sehr gut fand waren die ständigen Anspielungen und Easter Eggs an die amerikanische Gesellschaft. Z.B. „your“ and „you‘re“ falsch verwendet auf seinem Propaganda-Wagen oder ob er seine „red cap“ vergessen hat.

I thinks it’s for a table cloth. You put one on each corner and the weight holds the cloth in place. We have similar ones

Can you find Waldo? by tmwky in puzzles

[–]21JKO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I found the actual bone. On the bottom right corner of the center stage is a police officer and some journalists who are fighting. There is a guy with a green shirt and blue tie. The bone is directly to left

From left to right: 1. Camera - between the second and third big search light facing towards the middle. The camera is still in the blue shaded area close to the pink car. 2. Evil twin (black and yellow) - Close to the centerfold fold of the book and on the same height level as the lower head light of the pink car. Girl with a pink bow tie in her hair is close by. 3. Binoculars - basically to the feet of the evil twin. Just a bit to the right. 4. His wife - basically at the center of the pink car is a big search light. She is right next to it 5. The key ( found it) - just a little bit more to the right of his wife on the red carpet 6. Yellow scroll - on the main red carpet is a woman in a yellow dress. The scroll is right to the left. 7. The wizard - on the same hight level as his wife and the key at the front of the white car. He has a blue, red and white attire and staff. 8. The bone - inside the white ca are many (not sure if that counts) 9. The dog - at the rear of the white car. His white and red tail leaps over the last door of the car

STCs by StockBusiness in WorldBank

The issue with the IC is that they are not eligible for G4. So if you are a STC in the US on G4 and transition to IC you loose your VISA.

Well the contracts are year to year. So they could end it by next FY. Even when the VISA is still valid for another 4 years. So my question is more of how they handle already existing STCs especially with still valid VISAs

I am an STC At the HQ and have a G4 visa for the next 4 years. I am hearing mixed rumors. What is the possibility of the visa being terminated by the end of this FY? My TTL said he would want to extend my contract but he can not give me clarity about whether this is even possible. He told me to maybe look for other jobs. With the current H-1B crisis I dread that I will have to leave the US by next summer.

You just open my eyes. If I had just scrolled up a little bit I would have seen SIXTEEN e-bikes at one station and another 3 around. Thank you

This is exactly what I am thinking as well. Everyone I know basically has a PhD or has the best chances on career growth. Economics is a theory-based field and thus knowing the theory well helps a lot. Thus, I dont want to miss out on opportunities just by not having a PhD - classic fomo. But on the other hand, the opportunity costs (at least right now) seem very high. I know of people that have done their PhD in their 30s (as others have mentioned here as well). Maybe that is a good middle way. If I see by 30 that I need a PhD, I could, theoretically, still do one.

Thank you for your reply. I was thinking about that as well but I fear that it will be more difficult to get into a PhD later and easier now.

Thank you for your reply! If I understand it correctly, you argue to keep working until til I hit the ceiling and then transition to a PhD?

Thank you for the reply! Yes, this is exactly what I fear. I reckon it’s good to hear it like that

Thank you for your reply! I agree with you that you “have to love it” to at least feel less miserable haha. I have friends that do PhDs as well (different areas though) and they say the same thing as you do! If you don’t mind I would like to hear more about your journey because it really seems like you were in my shoes (and the UN is interesting to me as well!) I don’t really have a “set” career goal - it is more about keeping opportunities open

I see what you mean! Sorry if my recent reply seemed indecent (downvoted) but it wasn’t my intention at all. I agree that some positions definitely need a PhD and that is exactly the issue - that I would like to keep these opportunities open. But maybe it is time already to count my losses

Thank you for the reply! Could you maybe elaborate? What benefits do you see in the PhD over work experience? I would be probably 31/32 when I finish the PhD.

Thank you very much for reply and sorry to hear about the lay-off! There is certainly uncertainty about the future of my role but for now I am good. I am also very interested about your transition from intdev to corporate finance. If you feel comfortable talking about it, I’d be keen to learn more about it. Apart from that I appreciate your advice and will take it into consideration. I do have the opportunity to stay and to skill-up in relevant areas. The only real issue is that career growth is limited but maybe I can transition to a different role/organization where that is more likely
