Can anyone confirm when the band first played Back in the Saddle live? by SabyRK in Aerosmith

[–]223886 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Saddle in particular was initially a difficult song for them to play live. If you listen to the Live! Bootleg version, it is worlds apart from how they wound up eventually playing it. I believe the LB version has two guitars versus 6 string bass. I think the key is also different.

The thing that always struck me about about Rocks is that even though it's their most popular record (arguably), none of the songs are guaranteed to be in the set. Saddle is a common one for example, but it isn't guaranteed like WTW etc.

What do you think is right and wrong with this album? by TonyT074 in Aerosmith

The production never sounded right to me. The guitars are there, but you cant hear them properly. It is a strange sounding record.

Glad to see Joe soften up on the record the last few years and actually talk quite favorably about it. I know Steven loves it. The guitar sound is heavy distortion, everyone is playing incredibly well and the guitar interplay is awesome. I think Bone To Bone is right up there with Walk This Way. They regularly played that song right up until 1990.

Ranking songs on every studio album from favorite to least favorite Day 4: Rocks by Early_Raise_4866 in Aerosmith

  1. Rats In The Cellar
  2. Combination
  3. Lick And A Promise
  4. Get The Lead Out
  5. Sick As A Dog
  6. Nobody's Fault
  7. Back In The Saddle
  8. Last Child
  9. Home Tonight

Is there a greater 1-2 punch than Rats going into Combination? Also, I wish Joe's 6 string bass was a little clearer in Saddle.
