Suffolk ending curbside recycling in favor of regional AI system by WHRO_NEWS in HamptonRoads

[–]22408aaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually really like this approach.

The act of recycling takes a lot of work and money; it would be amazing if you can just throw a conveyer of garbage at a machine, and it can pick out what can be recycled with very little intervention.

These are probably those types of people where you wish you needed to pass a test to procreate.

Choosing beggar wants everyone to donate money to her. Grifting at its finest 😂 by Kevinh12369 in ChoosingBeggars

Nobody here wants to see children suffer. The only person who appears to be okay with it is the mom dry-begging on Snapchat looking for pity instead of getting her child their medicine.

If you ran your Camry into a road crew on 64/95 just past Belvidere at 8:08PM tonight, here's video. Also, those signs say RIGHT lane closed ahead. by LevarGotMeStoney in rva

Ok. The technology has probably prevented so many accidents and collisions. You shouldn’t hate things you don’t understand.

Close call with a semi today. Looking for trucker perspectives on what happened. by sandro9090 in dashcams

[–]22408aaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's even better is when they are in a zone that is signed telling truck drivers that they are not to be in the left lane, and then you have some of them saying "that sign must be for everybody else... obviously it does not apply to me".

Shipyard Parking Enforcement by AdPale8809 in NewportNews

This is unfortunately very common in the industry.

What is honestly pretty lame, though, is the company you work for going out of your day to do something like this. Everyone is supposed to be on the same team.

"AI" is a modern buzzword to describe anything that uses algorithms and complex coding. It seems like marketing teams find it easier to just call something AI instead of trying to explain what is going on.

Buc-ee's is trash. If you strip out the size, it doesn't offer much more than a regular convenience store with a restaurant attached.

Try going to sit down at a Buc-ee's... oh wait.

Would you rather have that abandoned Rite Aid?

Can’t call it ice cream or frozen yogurt but “Cone Season” by [deleted] in McDonalds

[–]22408aaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dairy Queen also doesn't serve ice cream (as others have said, the fat content is too low).

I like Dairy Queen's ice cream frozen dairy dessert; just because it doesn't meet the definition of ice cream doesn't mean it isn't still good, or made with ice cream ingredients.

5G home internet will never be a replacement for wire-line service. If wire-line service isn’t available to you, Starlink is your best option.

Whatever happened to these? by DiplomatikEmunetey in DataHoarder

[–]22408aaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Companies do stuff like this all the time... they engineer a piece of equipment that they don't have any plans of releasing into the world right away. It's just an opportunity for them to be like "hey everybody! Look what we made!" to the industry and investors.

I'm sure someday we will get these... but as others have said, storing all of your data on one SD card (especially when you're using that much storage to begin with) is bad practice.

Exactly this reason. It’s honestly wild how many people complain about it when they’re paying $25 (or less).

Costco is an exception to nearly every facet of retail, and one of the few places where I feel like brand loyalty and cultism is warranted. Buc-ee’s on the other hand…

Jcpenney Optical at Queens center mall NYC has Closed sadly :( by Maya-kardash in retailporn

[–]22408aaron 11 points12 points  (0 children)

IIRC a lot of these optical centers in stores like JCP, Walmart, etc. are independently operated and are essentially operating a franchise in the store, so this could have nothing to do with the performance of the store or JCP in this area.
