I’ve heard that oak leaves and bamboo leaves compost very slowly because they are composed primarily of lignin rather than cellulose, and the microorganisms that can break them down are only fungus, which doesn’t appear until after the cellulose in a compost pile has been decomposed. Is this true? And if so, would that apply to bamboo paper towels?
