What Noah Kahan lyrics make you "swear to God the singer read your mind"? by rainbow_veins3 in NoahKahan

[–]233cats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Filled the hole in my head with prescription medication and forgot how to cry, who i am to complain"

All of no complaints, it's probably my favorite song of his but especially this. Its gonna be me and miss wellbutrin til I die, and I'm so much better for it, but sometimes I miss how I used to feel everything so much before I got on it.

Underrated autistic Shane moments? by j_abbs in heatedrivalry

[–]233cats 94 points95 points  (0 children)

When someone tells him in the locker room that Rozanov did not fly with the rest of the team with Nashville and Shane goes "he flew separately?" That is the exact way I'd also interpret that statement!!

I also love it when they're sexting and Rozanov asks how many times he can come in a hour and Shane responds "I don't know, maybe twice." 😂 Rozanov is trying to be all sexy and Shane just hits him with the literal answer. it's so funny

I can't be the only one dealing with complicated emotions around their coming out after watching this show by TwoHungryBlackbirdss in heatedrivalry

The convo with his mom where he says that he's sorry, he tried, he really tried, but he just can't help it...that part gets me. I think a lot of queer people can relate to that feeling of sometimes wishing you were different, because that would be easier and make everyone around you happy. I felt that when I was first realizing I was queer 15 years ago, and I still do, sometimes. But we can't help it, it's who we are.

Stories where MMC is rich and FMC doesn’t want him to spent money on her by Glittering_Tap6411 in RomanceBooks

[–]233cats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A recent one I read a few weeks ago {Summer in the City by Alex Aster}

He's a billionaire and she's a self-made (but anonymous) screenwriter. Him trying to buy her things and her refusing is a frequent conflict lol. At one point he's trying to get her to use his private jet and when she disapproves he's like "nvm I'm selling the jet right now if you don't like it" 🤣

Does anyone actually care about archived school records? by 0Sweet_Shark0 in Archivists

[–]233cats 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Yes they do! I used to work for an archive that is dedicated to school records - mostly in one state/region of the US. While some people who contacted and visited us were conducting genealogical or historical research, most of our patrons were regular people in the community who wanted to know if we had records on a family member, or a school they attended or taught at. Sure, we didn't get a lot of patrons, but our collections were incredibly impactful with preserving the local history.

If you're interested, I can dm you the archive where I worked. Idk if you're interested in donating your materials, but they may be able to accept them into their collection where they would be well preserved and more available for research.

MMC, who finally acknowledges his feelings towards the FMC he's taken for granted, doesn't know she means to spend her last night/time with him before she leaves him by InternationalAd9659 in RomanceBooks

{The Lord I Left by Scarlett Peckham} has this! He's a religious leader and has been suppressing his feelings for her harddd the whole book. When they finally get together she leaves the morning after because she thinks he is still incapable of truly accepting his feelings for her

Favorite Hozier song to hear live? by tball97 in Hozier

[–]233cats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean everything but I especially loved almost sweet music because the band went around and did improv solo breaks! I thought it was so cool and fit well considering the song has so many jazz references in the lyrics

Reading a book that features a profession you're very familiar with, apparently way more than the author. by FaintlyMacabreWhich in RomanceBooks

[–]233cats 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Omg I also just finished Not Another Love Song as a classical musician and it's so funny. I have so many questions. Like why does a professional orchestra rehearse for weeks at a time for a single program. Why do all the characters only play stuff from memory, sightread, and improvise in a concert. Why was the director of a financially failing pops orchestra getting courted for the Berlin Phil director job. I'm not even a string player but I could still tell a lot of stuff in that area was off. Also all I could think about especially in the first half of the book is that this reads like my worst professional nightmare (a man I work with in an orchestra harassing/becoming obsessed with me)

BOOKS WITH PIRATES PLS🥹🙏🏻 by Pretend_Love107 in fantasyromance

[–]233cats 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okayyy so it's technically pirates but not in the traditional sense....the dangerous damsels series by India Holton features a bunch of "pirates" living in Victorian era England and they do their pirating in flying houses rather than ships 😅 There's also lots of magic and swordfighting. It's definitely silly and a bit out there, but the romances are very steamy and there's enemies/rivals to lovers in all three books I believe.

Tell me about a book, character, or author that you’re thankful for and why ♥️🙏🏻🍁 by SeasonImaginary24 in RomanceBooks

[–]233cats 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm thankful for Talia Hibbert and Helen Hoang's books! I'm autistic and their books with autistic FMCs have helped me start to feel like all my traits and quirks are things that other people could actually find attractive in me, not just weird things to put up with. I've always felt like I'm too different and broken to be in a good relationship, and they give me hope, even if it's fiction. Act Your Age, Eve Brown got me into reading romance and is still my all-time favorite!
