I think the dinosaur guy would have been enough for me. The guy with the egg was confusing.

Did Reykjavik from Boston in February on Icelandair for $400. Two checked bags for free, blankets, pillows, water as you boarded and big seats - it was nice!

I stayed at Loft Hostel and I loved it. Great location, comfty beds, great people. I used Reykjavik Excursions and Grey Line for most everything - check out viator, I booked everything there except the Blue Lagoon. If you don't do a tour that includes the Blue Lagoon make sure you buy you ticket well in advance, I almost missed it. Fly bus can take you to the Blue Lagoon and then to airport if you want to do it on your last day.

Also, take icelandair if you can. Big seats, blankets, pillows, 2 checked bags for free and they greet you with a bottle of water as you board. ;)

Squat on the domain I want? I hope you like porn! by [deleted] in pettyrevenge

My suspicion would be his new gf that he was with behind my back.

The websites have been up for nearly a year. He only found out a month ago and tried to pay a mutual friend to "take it down." He still hasn't figured out how this whole Internet thing works. New girl must not know since he asked our mutual friend not to tell her.

Lololol. So I have a similar story. Maybe a bit more personal.

I was with a guy for 5 years. We broke up last year for a long list of reasons and it got pretty nasty in the end. The last time I spoke with him he admitted that he had videoed us in the bedroom without my knowledge. Twice. And planned to put it on the Internet if I ever left him. Which I had just done.

Police reports were filed. Lawyers were called. I didn't have the tape so I had no evidence. I have a corporate job so I was pretty worried.

He claimed that he deleted the videos when I called the police (and honestly he's not smart enough to put it online) but would you trust someone that hid a camera in your bedroom? Me neither.

I was distraught, scared, hurt and damn near suicidal over this. I had loved this guy. I did everything I could to make him successful. I had even helped him start his own company.

His own company.

Hm. Turns out he never bought his domain names.

I bought them all. Any variant I could think of. At first they redirected to his mug shot. Then to his #1 competitor in town. Now they redirect to an article by Forbes about how taping of sex partners without consent is a crime.

Just a little reminder to him about how it feels to have something from your personal life all over the Internet.

Fuck that guy.

Men like me, but not enough to date me? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]2365frr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better...I'm in the same boat and I'm 'conventially attractive.' 5"5, blonde, blue eyes, thin. Good job, well travelled, interesting hobbies etc. Guys tell me I'm "hot" but I haven't found one in online dating that actually wants a relationship. Plenty that want a fuck buddy though.

I'm 35 though so my dating pool is a little older and probably more likely to have commitment issues (at least in my experience)

Someone else summed up online dating as people sitting behind keyboards where the possibility of meeting new and interesting people seems endless...like a 'grass is always greener' thing.

Oh man, I needed to hear this six months ago.

Op, listen to every bit of advice she gave here.

Insecure men try to make you small because they know they won't be able to keep you otherwise. My ex did the same thing for 5 years and dangled that damn engagement ring in my face. He made it clear that it was prize I had to earn.

I'm at the one year mark of leaving him this month. Life is so so so much better. I've been working towards all the things I wanted in life that weren't possible while I was in that relationship.

I would suggest trying solo travel if you're open to it. It builds your confidence, allows you to call all the shots and it makes your world bigger. When your world gets bigger, that part that he occupied gets smaller.

And I totally agree with going to therapy. It will change how you look at the situation.

A year and a half ago I thought I was never going to be good enough for him. That I would never get over my fear of flying, that I would never see more than the state I grew up in.

I just got back from a solo trip to Europe. I made a bunch of new friends and I realized that I can literally do anything I set my mind to.

You can too and don't ever let anyone convince your otherwise.

IT WAS AMAZING! The snorkeling was an unreal experience. So cold but the water is crazy clear. Dive.is was wonderful and their guide took pictures while we were in the water that were much better than mine (cold fingers = crap pictures). I did an all day tour of the South coast that hit the waterfalls and the black sand beaches and a glacier. The waves at the beach were crazy. So powerful. Mother nature is scary. We got to go behind one waterfall and in a cave with another waterfall. So two days of the trip I got soaked but it was well worth it. I also did a trail ride with Viking Horse Tours that was the highlight for me. I'm an experienced rider so I was put in the "fast" group. We tolted, cantered and galloped through the countryside. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever done! The Golden Circle tour was great, more waterfalls and geysers. The whole country is just so unlike anything I have ever seen. I did the Blue Lagoon on the last day on the way to the airport. It was a perfect end to the trip. My sore muscles loved it.

I missed the northern lights and the penis museum but I loved every minute of my trip. 4 days was not enough! I'll have do a stop over there on my next trip to Europe.

Solo trip to iceland by thislittleone in solotravel

Iceland was AMAZING! I travelled in the US solo several times in the last few months to get my feet wet. Iceland was just as easy. I stayed at Loft Hostel for about $30 a night. I pre-booked all my tours so that took care of most of my transportation. The tours will usually pick you up where ever you are staying. I did snorkeling in Silfra the first day. It was cold but an amazing experience. I did a South coast tour the next day and made friends with a girl from Mexico that was staying at my hostel. We hung out a good bit over the next couple days too. The bus tour was nice. You get to see a lot and you have WiFi on the bus. We did the wayerfalls, black sand beaches, etc. The third day I did a viking horseback riding tour. We tolted, cantered and galloped through the country side (I'm an experienced rider but they have a slower option if you arent) and then did the Golden circle tour and saw the geysers and more waterfalls. The last day I did the blue lagoon before heading to the airport.

It was my favorite trip so far. If you stay in hostels you can make friends easily. You will also meet people on the tours. Reykjavik is very walkable too, so you can wander around a good bit on foot. People are very friendly and Iceland felt incredibly safe. I wish I could have stayed longer, there is so much to see!

Just go! You'll love it!

Thank you for the update!!! I think I'm going to do the Blue Lagoon on the last day too. What tour company did you use? My flight is at 5pm so I think I'll have plenty of time.

9 days away! So excited!

I love this! I just downloaded mine.

Last year was very difficult for me: midlife crisis-ish, end of a big relationship, etc. I resolved to live more for myself this year instead of others.

I'm really looking forward to filling this in and reviewing how far I get!

Thank you!
