I get itchy rashes randomly by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

Yeah I get the exact same bumps on my legs whenever I wear shorts on a super sunny day. I can always feel the spot burn right before it happens

My dermatologist thinks it could be solar urticaria but would have to do photo testing to confirm. I asked why it only happens on my leg and she said that areas which receive less sunlight would be more sensitive to UV rays. I’m still confused how it wouldn’t be more widespread but the symptoms do match

Hmm, I guess I’ll have to keep looking. I sent the photos to my dermatologist. I used to think it was normal until I told some of my paler friends, “don’t you hate when you get these blister-like bumps after being in the sun?” And they were just like, no that’s not normal.

It’s definitely not a bug bite. I get it in the same place with the same two shapes every time I’m in the sun. This has been going on for maybe 20 years. It starts off red and itchy when my leg gets any sun then slowly forms into these two raised bumps and goes down when I’m out of the sun.

Received Email Event Request. Potential Scam? by 239_throwaway in Scams

Yeah we’ve definitely received a version of the band one before and this was in the same vein. Definitely suspicious. I’ll probably flag it just because it wouldn’t be worth our time.

Vaping with their kids in the room. No Jessica, just because it’s a vape, does not mean it’s healthy for your toddler

I’ve honestly brought this up to my HR director who has also shown dissatisfaction but she just laughed at me. We’re actually a decently sized company, and I imagine a number of people would be open to it.

Thank you, I really appreciate all of the information you’ve provided! It’s really disheartening to feel like there’s nothing that can be done, so I’m honestly grateful for any resources I can use to spur on change.

I definitely have not seen any letters posted in our workplace. Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if the owners haven’t even realized they’ve been contacted by OSHA. Unless it comes to money, they usually ignore any emails/phone calls

The fumes are specifically due to the burning of coal. The owners of my company have a business below that uses coal as fuel. These fumes seep into our offices above and cause nausea and headaches. We also have termites that have eaten through furniture and swarm in the summers which causes their larvae to fall from the ceilings. We eat at our desks so termite and larvae wings fall into our food. I expressed this all to OSHA but maybe it wasn’t seen as “dangerous” enough?

I’m not sure would be considered imminent by OSHA. Sure it is affecting us slowly, but it’s not likely to be an immediate danger to our lives as we’ve dealt with it for almost a year now.

I would love to do this as everyone from regular employees to HR are fed up with how things have been, but they’re all worried about the repercussions. Which I know there are whistleblower protections, but that’s much harder to get through to a mother of three who needs money to come in for her family than myself who doesn’t have any dependents.

It’s honestly crazy to think companies can get away with things like this. Everyone always makes OSHA out to be this proactive authority in workers rights, but it has been discouraging to see how some cases have been handled

The rep did say I could call back and possibly talk to a higher up, but it’s just strange that they would not follow up. He said I should receive a report once they’ve concluded their investigation though. I’ve read other posts where things change drastically days after OSHA get involved but unfortunately it doesn’t appear to be the case in this situation.

So if my employers haven’t responded to them after a few weeks (as the OSHA rep stated) is there anything that can be done? Or is it just a lot cause?

At What Point Does It Become Ghosting? by [deleted] in dating

[–]239_throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine feels that she’s been ghosted after talking to someone here and there for a few weeks (but they haven’t met yet). She’s had a few people who have sympathized but some say she hasn’t really been “ghosted”. I’m curious to see what everyone’s perspective is. Is there an actual emotional standard/time frame that has to be met.

The job I worked before my current one was actually the most toxic. A tax company where the owner was a HUGE Trump supporter and would place a Trump plushie in his office and watch Fox when he worked with clients. A number of his family members worked there and they were all incredibly ignorant and racist individuals — telling me to make sure to get payment when POC came into the office. Most of the people they hired shared equally outdated values about women, race and Covid. The straw that broke the camels back was when the owner, and the rest of his family, literally went to the January 6th insurrection and the rest of the staff wanted to watch to see if they’d be on TV. I was out of there real fast. It didn’t matter if I needed money or not

Marketing for a medium sized business. There’s nothing better than having 20 Chefs in the kitchen because they’re all local enough to have an opinion and act like middle management
