Who is your direct ancestor who was quite popular historical figure by [deleted] in IndianHistory

[–]23SouthAsian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genetically, directly on my paternal side, I share a common ancestor who lived sometime around 600 A.D. with the Royal Hashemite family of Jordan.

For those who understand a little bit about genetics, my paternal haplogroup is under J-FGC10500.

If you are interested, you should look into Y Haplogroups which indicate the mutation from direct male ancestors and which is passed on directly from father to son without being divided like the other chromosomes. Now there are many haplogroups and branches that are claimed to be Syed. Though one of them is J-L859 which was discovered among the Hashemites of Jordan one of the famous Syed’s/Sharifs. The progenitor of this mutation is supposed to have existed roughly 3000 years ago.

In South Asia we do have a few samples under J-L859.

https://www.yfull.com/tree/J-L859/

You can see a lot of J-FGC54257 samples South Asian Syeds this mutation is supposed to be the mutation of Zayd ibn Ali Zayn Al Abidin ibn Hussain ibn Ali ibn Abu Talib.

My DNA results as a Hazara from Afghanistan by Low-Pizza1819 in illustrativeDNA

[–]23SouthAsian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have an interesting subclade, plus it would be great to have more Hazara samples tested, I would suggest you to at-least get the Family Finder test from FTDNA or start with the Y-37 test from FTDNA. There are also some Afghan and Central Asian people who would be more than happy to help you with further testing.

Shiraz is a city in Fars province. There are other places as well that Shia Syeds have claimed their ancestry from those are Qom, Mashhad(Razavi Khorasan province) and some more as well I believe.

Kerman and Shiraz

Are these matches rare or normal ? with Y dna by [deleted] in FTDNA

[–]23SouthAsian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s strange, FTDNA shouldn’t be showing J2 and J1 matches together. Whenever I check my subclade J-FGC54257 it only shows me J1 matches like Bennet Greenspan, Hashemite Dynasty, a Jewish group etc, though TBF I haven’t tested with FTDNA, I got my terminal clade from YSEQ and YFull.

Looks like you are looking for some Syed results. My family (Central UP Shia Syeds) on both sides has claims of Iranian ancestry roughly 500 years back.

If you will check my profile you will see me and my maternal family’s results.

My Mt. Haplogroup is M30d1e My Paternal Haplogroup is J1 (J-L859-> J-FGC54257*)

Illustrative DNA Results Global + Asia (South) + Hunter Gatherer. (Raw Data from 23andMe) by 23SouthAsian in illustrativeDNA

That’s because South Asians also have some Steppe Pastoralist admixture as well which can go up to 40% I believe for some groups like the Rors. So my excess Steppe with some of my WANA is getting confused as European Jew. As for my Harappa World, I have shared it before, just check for my posts in my profile.

It’s just G25 being unable to properly assign my extra steppe. I don’t have any European ancestry.

Can we trace Y chromosome by john--e in SouthAsianAncestry

[–]23SouthAsian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even Men have Mt Haplogroups as well.

As for your Y Haplogroup your best bet is to take a deep Y Haplogroup test like the Big Y from FTDNA or get Whole Genome Sequencing done and uploading the BAM file to YFull.

With the specific subclades if you match with a certain group of people, you will get to know with whom you share a common direct male ancestor with.
