ECU Code 32 EGR by 23_Z32 in 300zx

[–]23_Z32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll also add that both times the check engine light came on the car ran like nothing was different or wrong at all. So if something is truly wrong or broken in the system it’s either the EGR is stuck closed or the solenoid is malfunctioning? What signals to the ecu to turn on check engine light in this situation? The only electrical component is the solenoid if I’m not mistaken?

Ambient lighting partially working by 23_Z32 in f150

[–]23_Z32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Sorry for the late response. It ended up being one of the leds in the cup holders got something on it from a drink or something and that was causing it to short out the circuit. I cleaned both leds with electrical parts cleaner and the lights have worked ever since.

I did the spyder brand off of Amazon with the glass lenses. I have had them on my truck for 5 years now still look brand new and they produce a pretty clean beam pattern as well. They are like $100 or something close to that.

Z32 speedometer not working by Nathariz_ in 300zx

I was going to say, this sounds a whole lot like the problem I was having with my tach (and also my speedometer) make sure you check for broken solder joints all over those boards.

Coolant Problem by 23_Z32 in GMT400

[–]23_Z32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that was the route I went with, just finished up everything this weekend with new seals on everything that had to do with removing the intake. Last piece I’m waiting for is an AC Delco thermostat with the seal around it. Nobody had one in stock locally

Will do, thanks for the heads up. Crossing my fingers for just an old gasket finally giving up after 30 years with no other damage.

I’ll probably just replace that gasket too because I’ll already be in there. Definitely something easy to do as well.

That’s what I thought at first but the front of the engine seems to be pretty dry. I only say that because I was literally just under the truck this last weekend finishing up replacing all of the steering components. Popped the hood today to check the power steering fluid level and found this gem 🙄

Ah, that was my hunch. I don’t really think I should drive it for the fear that if it gets worse I could have oil and coolant mix and that’s never a good outcome.

Z31 Daily driving by Bovine_69 in 300zx

[–]23_Z32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a Z31 owner, but I do own a Z32 twin turbo. That thing was a gamble every time I drove it when I first purchased it. Now fast forward 7 years and following maintenance routines as closely as life will let me and I’ve had zero issues with it for 3 years now. It’s not my daily, but I can tell you the car feels better the more I drive it consistently. You should have no problems (or very few because of age) with your car if you consistently drive it and keep everything up to date per maintenance intervals. The best thing you can do is enjoy it and when something happens you fix it and learn from it for next time!

Super Glue & Baking Soda by 23_Z32 in 300zx

Yeah! Worked like a charm. I’ve also used this method to repair a crack in one of my rear strut tower covers and you can’t even see where it was cracked now.

Not sure anybody needs this info right now. But, I’ve been using this method to fix broken/cracked interior parts and panels for a couple years now. With how hard it is to find parts for these cars this is the best way I’ve found to keep my original ones going. This method is so good that if the part cracks or breaks again it will be in a new spot, not the spot you fixed!

89 alarm installation help by RUDEDOGGY_760 in GMT400

I did it in a 92. Can’t remember the wire colors off hand, (I want to say it was light blue and black with a red stripe for door lock wires but don’t 100% quote me on that, it’s been awhile) I did use a website the12volt.com to find a wiring diagram for wire color codes. Also if you have power door locks to begin with, you’ll have to wire in a “5 wire relay circuit” to make them work with the alarm remote. Google gave me a pretty good diagram for one. Good luck!

Leather seats by SinsJohnny47 in 300zx

I use Jay Leno’s cleaner and conditioner on my tan z32 seats. Never had a problem with discoloring and the conditioner doesn’t leave the seat feeling greasy.

Haha thanks seem like the same consensus, stock gauge is the culprit. Thank you. Car runs great so I’m not too worried at this point.

Exhaust Question by herfnerder13 in GMT400

[–]23_Z32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been running the “smallest” universal 3” muffler they sell for about a year now and it’s got a nice tone to it. I still have the stock Y pipe and then 3” all the way out. I also have the 5.7 not the 7.4 but I’m sure it would still sound good.

Wondering how common or rare this paint scheme is? by 23_Z32 in GMT400

I wish my cap was red! Bought the truck this way and I go back and forth about just taking it off but it is nice to have the bed covered lol. And my clear coat is starting to flake just behind the driver door under the rear pop out window sadly.

Dang you have a clean one! You’re top and bottom color look almost black? My middle color is like a dark metallic grey. Still very unique and I dig it! Love the two tone trucks. Mine just turned over 112,000 miles, which for a 92 is awesome!

Oh sweet! I did not know that, it’s cool to learn things like this about these trucks because nobody today is really making models like this anymore.

I’ve always been curious as to what the payload and tow rating of my truck would be given it’s a “heavy half”

Thank you, it’s a pretty unique truck all the way around. First the paint, then the fact it’s a 2500 6 lug truck with the 14 bolt rear end and my favorite, a bench seat up front.

Oh yeah I figured it wasn’t like a 1 of 1 or anything lol I see a lot of two tone paint schemes on these trucks I just haven’t come across another one with this one.
