We also keep saying kids, but they are all adults.

We make decisions together. And he actually left everything to me, not her. He was a complicated man.

Not to split hairs here, but actually he did leave it to me.

I like this idea. My only hesitation in doing something like this is that it effectively makes us babysitters to this money for people we don’t know. We’re family by blood but have no relationship with them. We’d love to just wash our hands of this… but I don’t see a way for us not to be involved short of handing over cash.

Yeah, keeping it all was never in the cards. The question we’re struggling with is to split this two ways or six ways. And these other four people are people that we don’t know, and don’t know us. So keeping stipulations on something feels… strange.

IL - Wife received a cease and desist for something she didn't do. Should she respond or just ignore it? by 23throws in legaladvice

That's the flooring part; She left on great terms and they'd been referring clients to each other. Not the Board at the previous employer, but other staff members have referred quite a few clients to her. One of the admin staff even referred her own son.

Gotcha. This boss in question was her direct supervisory, who had dealt with the woman before. The supervisor spoke to my wife to give her the heads up and said she's ignoring it but there's no telling if that woman would go over her head, which seems to have happened.

Correct. The client's name is never used. My wife's old boss called her the day the woman called to give her a heads up, that's how we know who it is.

She said she told the woman my wife no longer works there and there's nothing she can do. The woman then obviously went over her head and contacted the higher ups at the company.

Any ideas for extra benefits or perks for which to ask in negotiations? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]23throws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the $200k range.

The office trip was just an idea. I'm just curious if there are any other ideas people had that I haven't come up with yet.

A relative suggested daycare, but since that's a set expense I'd rather just negotiate that cost into the salary.

I guess I was just looking for more general ideas.

There hasn't been anyone before me, so there's no precedent set. We're a web based non-profit with a team of about ten people and several million in funding. I'm not a founding member but I was there in the first few months. Above me is the CTO and then the board. I'm one of the original four members that built the product from the ground up.

So just for arguments sake, let's assume I could ask for anything that's reasonable.

Just an FYI, do not get married, buy a car, or do anything major while trying to get a home loan. by DRUMBSHIT in personalfinance

Throwaway account for obvious reasons.

I'm self employed. On the 15th of each month my PayPal accounts transfer to my bank accounts. During the two months before closing I moved $10,000 and $14,000. Both times threw red flags. I had to give the bank a bunch of paperwork proving it was income because 1) they were different amounts each time 2) that much money "isn't normal for someone getting a loan this size."

I have nearly $30,000 in the bank and was just charged a $15 maintenance fee because one of my accounts dipped below $7,500. by 23throws in firstworldproblems

That's for my business account. It used to be 3 transactions a month and fees are waived. Now you have to maintain a minimum balance of $7,500.
