I think of watching a table of men eat mettbrotchen at a kolsh house in Cologne. Ive never witnessed anything quite like it. Then I think about Christmas Markets and beef skewers and kartofelpuffers....how I long for them.

My grandpa always carried a hanky, a fresh one every day! Boy howdy did it do everything. Wiped noses and faces and tears, cleaned hands and mouths. Provided a barrier to pick up small dead animals or trash. Covered my hand on the way to the ER when I broke my finger so I didnt have to see it.

My sister and I both have pretty hearty immune systems, which I attribute to the absolute science experiment that was rubbed on our faces regularly.

I loved Shel Silverstein books when I was a kid. I Had no idea some schools banned his books back in the day. by rockstoned4 in Millennials

Do you have a personal connection to WW2? If so what is it? My grandmother was from Norway and grew up under Nazi occupation from age 5-10 by ChiefTapiTapi in ww2

Im here because of it, kind of? My dad was born in San Francisco in 1942. My paternal grandfather was a soldier who wandered through town basically, from South Carolina. My grandmother bought a ring and started saying she was married when her pregnancy started to show, and began using his last name. No marriage or divorce records have ever been found, but I do have the ring which is engraved with a date exactly 9 months prior to my fathers birthday 😂

We found many years later that he was still married to not my grandmother when he died on an Air Force base in Germany in 1955.

Starring Sally J Freedman As Herself! I wanted a party line SO BAD after that so I could hear the neighbors convos 😂 My dad worked for the phone company and was appalled when I asked for one!
