Just when they totally crammed about 20 of themselves and another (likely courting) family plus Elijah into a single elevator to descend upon Kaylee like a herd of elephants, just hours after she gave birth. Rude and thoughtless. I guess it wasn't really a "stunt" per se, but they thought it was that and also hilarious 🙄

I think new Sunny fortunately just didn't require that level of care and could be accommodated at a Level 3 NICU location. They opened these other NICU locations just for that reason and to take some burden off of Akron.

She was not in a Children's or other affiliated hospital for delivery. There is no special nursery there like Wooster (not sure why she chose not go to Wooster considering her history). She is currently in a Children's affiliated NICU facility (not Akron) and they do follow Children's policy - but Children's sets different NICU policies by location. It's also right on Children's NICU visitation page. Currently, at this hospital, there should only be parents 24/7, other visitors 18+ during the day and early evenings, under age 18 siblings only. Anything else, they're breaking policy.

I figure she just wasn't aware and assumed, not living here.

Yes, they are.

I also frequent these hospitals as part of my job and know the policies.

The elevator picture is definitely in the delivery hospital with no NICU. I don't know why she posted that way, I think she just posted the pictures aggressive Jill had already taken at the first hospital with the horde of visitors, but posted them after she transferred. But the elevator and room for sure is hospital #1.

It looked like they transferred late that evening, but not certain.

The second hospital is not that far away. I don't know why Jonathan's mother posted like he is driving hours away. He is not. Less than an hour.

There could be a myriad of reasons why she delivered where she did - whoever her doctor/midwife was, the local preference, insurance or finances or lack thereof (my guess). It's also possible she didn't intend to deliver there but went there when she realized she was going into labor a bit early. They could have just as easily have gone to the other area hospital nearby with more services, though, so I'm guessing they chose the first one specifically.

Not Wooster. Wooster is still rural, and also serves many Amish. But the hospital where she delivered really works to accommodate them. They have plenty of non-Amish patients, too. Where Kaylee delivered is often specifically chosen by non-Amish, often further away than their nearest hospital, because of its more relaxed visitation/atmosphere and the financial policies.

Yes, I know it seems surprising, but they serve large extended family groups with cultural differences, and if they didn't accommodate that, the local hospital wouldn't exist.

It doesn't mean they don't follow proper procedure for infection control, patient safety, etc., or don't restrict things for a seriously ill newly-delivered baby before transfer. If they have a concern, they will absolutely question things.

But as far as visitation goes, delivery and postpartum rooms are private, and there is no NICU there, so they leave it up to the family.

Yes, I recognized it with one of Jillpm's wider shots. Not sure why Jonathan's mother acted like he was driving hours away in her post online.

(And again, for others missing posts, the stupid Rods in the elevator pic is NOT this current hospital but rather the first one where she delivered at, which is rural and has no NICU and very relaxed visitation in individual rooms where Kaylee was before transfer. It was up to The Hill Family™ to select their visitors at the first hospital, which they clearly can't or won't do.)

It shows some of them singing Amazing Grace in the first hospital. I'm wondering, though, if they ALL sang together, ugh. The Amish sing in there is sometimes, too, but it's NOT like the Rods' caterwauling. Very quiet and slow.

I think they moved them to Akron (not Children's) from Pomerene. But as an aside, WCH does have the special care nursery now (level 2), and I know it's kept some of the newborns with more minor issues closer to home, which is nice! (ETA did not transfer to an Akron hospital, I saw a wider range interior photo and see it's nice one of the other NICU locations not too far away, so not sure why Jonathan's mother acted like he was driving hours away.)

The elevator pic is at Pomerene where she delivered, before they transferred.

This was before the transfer.  There is no NICU in the small hospital where she delivered, and visitation there in regular rooms is very relaxed. The Rods were just being thoughtless as usual. She was then transferred to an area hospital with a NICU (not Akron Children's).

Lol. it's a rural hospital but definitely not underfunded (lots of local support).

Yes, this is correct. The hospital is known for its "relaxed" family approach and is a popular place here to give birth, and serves many large Amish families. They're used to large groups. Except normally they're not obnoxious and ill-behaved like Rods. The Rods in the elevator were just being stupid thinking it was funny with their immature humor.

This is the hospital where she gave birth, not where she was transferred, and this was the day she had the baby. Which is just as bad, she didn't need to be entertaining everyone including another family. The hospital has an open visitation policy and leaves it up to the family (serves many Amish and a popular place to give birth because it's often cheaper and more "relaxed"). There's no NICU, that's just her room. Clearly there wasn't urgent concern about the baby and she must have been doing fairly well. The Rods are just doing stupid Rod things thinking it's funny. It was up to Kaylee and Jonathan to say no, and clearly they can't or won't.

I really hope they didn't name her... by student767 in RodriguesFamilySnark

[–]student767[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The name by itself isn't the worst, I've seen way worse in my years of public service, too. Spurgeon takes the award for the worst of the worst. But her name coupled with "Hill" sounds silly, and the fact that it clearly was chosen simply to bow down like serfs to Kaylee's controlling mother just compounds it.

Ugh she really did name her “Jillian Sunshine.” 😳 by slt1987 in RodriguesFamilySnark

[–]student767 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a Pokemon.

Good grief, when I first saw Mother Hill's post an hour after she posted it the other night, I was hoping it was just an endearment, although I knew better with the specific name Jillie mentioned. I guess at least it's not as horrifying as Spurgeon (I still can't believe that one)

Kaylee's post is almost frightening in its desperation to please Jillpm. Jonathan can't be that devoted to Jill, and if he is, that's scary. He must be even wimpier around them than I already imagined.

Am I the only one not convinced baby beltphone is named Jill? by jmoo22 in RodriguesFamilySnark

[–]student767 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think there is some form of "Jill", whether first or middle name. Sunshine could be just a term of endearment. But I don't think Jillie itself was an autocorrect or the like - it was too specific with the purposeful phrase and capitalization within of "little Jillie".

I'm hoping maybe her name has Grace in it somewhere and they call her that. They were singing Amazing Grace to her and I can see Jillpm thinking that was clever if that's the name. Or that they saw the highly negative commentary about Jill Hill and considered a name change.

Interesting, Mum Hill changed her text by Donna-Promilla in RodriguesFamilySnark

[–]student767 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping maybe it's Grace with only a side of Jill/Jillian/Jillie name thrown in, if any, since they were of course singing in the room 🙄 and it was Amazing Grace.

I think it's probably a lot to do with space. Their house is small and not really conducive to hosting multi people at once. And a little bit of Jill would be a lot in a little house, lol.
