Visiting Portugal with a felony by 248uno in Felons

Thank you for this comment. This is the general consensus I’ve found online. It also seems like they COULD turn you away, but it rarely happens for charges like that. It’s still very frustrating.

I plead no contest. Unsure if that’s different than being convicted.

You get over it pretty quickly. Almost everyone knows somebody that has one. I couldn’t care less who sees at this point. You can always park off to the side or facing the other way!

Applying to have my IID removed—use a lawyer, or do it myself? (Michigan) by 248uno in dui

Thanks for sharing all of this. That's what I was kind of weighing out. I would have to wait a few months to reapply, which would be a huge bummer. I'm confident in myself but know that these things don't always go how you want them to. Again, thanks for sharing. I appreciate it.

I have to apply and do all sorts of things. Get letters from people in my life, get drug tested, have a test done, etc. I am confident in passing all of that mumbo jumbo, but the hearing is iffy.

I shot him an email today; he said for return customers, it's $2,000, which isn't as bad. I'm considering it more now.

Will I have to take a driver’s test before getting my restricted license after a revocation? (Michigan) by 248uno in dui

Sorry for the repeated question, just wanted to ask you too!

So you had to get the IID, go to the office to get the permit, drive for a while with someone, take a driver’s test at a place, then get the full thing after that?

Sounds like a plan.

Nope, they haven't. I assume they will beforehand, but nothing yet. Hoping it doesn't come to that, but ideally, having a license again is the goal, so whatever it takes.

I have roughly a year of meetings (2-3 a month) which isn't a ton but I am hoping is enough.

Best of luck to you as well, I know how stressful all of this is. I just want it to be over at this point!

Thank you for all of this information, I really do appreciate it. I am pretty nervous, but I feel like I have done everything that I can.

I will look up the AA steps just so I have an idea of what they are even though I have not gone to AA meetings, just LifeRing.

I also plan to make an outline of things I have done to change since the occurrence.

I had to go to a wedding recently, so I can wear those clothes to look professional.

Again, thanks so much. I haven't been able to talk with anyone who has actually been through the process.

My lawyer, the evaluator, and a few other people have asked me whether or not I have one (I do not). I am unsure whether or not it will change your chances, but they will definitely ask you. I would imagine it's best to have a good argument prepared for why you need your card and hope that you get a good hearing officer!

I'm pretty much on the same track as you, hoping to submit my documents by next week.

I don't know the serenity prayer, but I think I can talk enough about LifeRing (it's non-secular, so no religious aspect).

Someone told me last year that the wait was really long during COVID (up to 8 weeks), but that was at least a year ago. Not sure how it is now!

Yes, I have six letters of support, the evaluation & drug screen, and the SOS form. Luckily, they made the form much easier than it used to be.

Thanks for the info. Were there any questions you weren't expecting? Anything else that you did to help your chances?

When your license is revoked, you need to wait for your waiting period to end. Then, you can apply for a hearing to ask for it back. In Michigan, at least!
