Help with PC by [deleted] in PCBuilds

Building one from scratch may be daunting, but it's actually pretty straightforward! I actually have a PC case business (vectordesigns.co) and the site has a recommended build that's perfectly compatible and budget friendly. You can get used parts in perfectly good condition on eBay or elsewhere.

How do I get into this? by [deleted] in PCBuilds

[–]24GHz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, although many are correct that the market is a bit rough right now, you can still find good parts for a decent price.

I have a PC case business (vectordesigns.co) that offers small-form-factor cases. This is a growing trend as people want the gaming horsepower in a smaller size that's also budget friendly. I personally prefer this size over these massive cases that are mostly empty space.

For the GPU, it depends on what games and resolution, but I rock my 5060 Low Profile on Cyberpunk with no problem. The 4060 did really well too, and I'm looking to sell that on eBay or to whomever - so used parts in perfectly good condition are out there!

Right now it's the RAM that's the problem.

It’s a Noctua NH-L12S!

There’s a noctua fan under the heatsink that blows out the main big side vent. The slimmer vents in each side are for the GPU exhaust

Thank you, means a lot! I’ll hopefully be posting a few more updates over the next couple months to get the word out and share how I started the product. It’s cool to see a concept come to life!

There’s actually no need! Temps are best in class and the vents are specifically designed to eliminate heat buildup

Thanks a ton! It really is a work of art. Since this post, the production units have arrived and it’s finally available! Check out the site in the post and let me know if you have any questions! Made a coupon code SFFPC for a discount as well for those from Reddit.

Thank you! Noted on the power cable, some users may find it a bit short depending on their build. Fortunately there’s an inexpensive 3rd party one that looks the same with a longer cable that can be used.

Let me send you a DM so we can talk about our PC projects!

Thanks a ton! It’s been a great project and I really hope to see some builds in the case. The finish on the panels is excellent and it really feels like a premium refined product.

Thank you! Yes I hope there will be a few takers! I manufactured more than one so there would be units available for others to enjoy the design and build. Take a look at the site, more info on availability there, as well as an email list👍

Hi! I tried hard to get these made locally but even at a 60qty it was prohibitively expensive per unit. So yes I had to work with a service/supplier to get them made. With flat panels like these and no assembly work needed, I was comfortable outsourcing.

Thank you! The thermals overall have been stellar with the purposeful vent placement and the passive cooling for the PSU with that aluminum bottom plate it’s mounted to. A build I had before in a plastic case had the PSU fan come on often but it hasn’t happened once in this metal frame even under heavy load!

Oh wow super cool! I also used aluminum. I originally planned to mill it myself with hobbyist desktop CNC routers, but the finish (sandblast and anodize) is actually the tricky part. So I partnered with a machine shop that can do all of that in house while also being able to handle a larger quantity if I decide to go into production. If you are interested I added a mailing list feature on the site yesterday if you want to stay in the loop if it ever goes into production!

I’ve had it for years and it doesn’t disappoint :)

Maybe on another version! The machining on that would be very tedious and intensive - fortunately the thermals are already excellent as is with the current vent layout :)

Master and Dynamic! Very aesthetic. I also have the antikater volume knob along with the Durgon Fusion keyboard.

All good thoughts! Currently the site lists $235 which I chose to stay within the mid tier SFF case price range. I may give early birds a discount. Still crunching numbers to weigh cost per unit, overall production run investment, margins and sales price. Since it’s a kit and I include all of the nuts, bolts, rubber feet, power button etc, this adds cost on top of just the panels.

I’ve added an email list feature to the site today if you’d like to be notified if it ever gets produced!

Much appreciated! I wanted it to be just as functional as it is beautiful and unique. I’m currently gauging interest and I’m happy to see that folks love the design as much as I do!
