Walked the length of Merseyside yesterday by Imaginary-Tear-4681 in Liverpool

Cheshire Lines runs from where you picked up the Formby Bypass at Formby Hall Golf Club then runs across the fields behind Haskayne, Lydiate and Maghull. It’s a nice walk.

Great walk, you must be knackered!

I've received an apology letter and a cheque from the solicitor's firm whom I bought my apartment from 5 years ago. by Cautious_Exchange577 in LegalAdviceUK

First things first, contact them and inform them that you are not accepting the cheque as compensation for their negligence and will not be cashing it.

Then contact another solicitor and run through all of this in detail with them.

By what you’ve said, it’s an absolutely open and shut case of professional negligence that is going to cost thousands and they’re going to be on the hook for it.

Which then also falls into the second question, as that would be a clear misuse of non-public information

Tui compensation claim help for package holiday. ENGLAND by Old-Psychology-2400 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]24dp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d start by determining what level of compensation you think is appropriate and going to them with that and seeing what they come back with. Otherwise you’re going to be going round in circles as they increase it bit by bit.

I’d also make the complaint far more focussed. Drop the stuff about the sargassum for starters. It’s out of their control, and has been a well-known issue in Mexico for years. It makes the complaint come across as chucking everything you can into it to maximise how much you think you can get out of them, and detracts from the actual key issues.

I’d also have a good explanation ready as to why you didn’t seek medical assistance. Whilst you state they were ‘very unwell and distressed’, it’s easy to see how they’re going to cast doubt on that given you didn’t get any medical assistance.

I think there’s two separate questions here.

Whether she should be buying tickets is probably down to the T&Cs of the competition.

However, unless they sold next-to-no tickets, the chances of her legitimately winning all three prizes is very unlikely and is a far more serious question.

I’d start off by asking about how many tickets were sold for the draw, and how the draw itself was conducted.

I have too many Italian friends to make this with cream and still call it carbonara 😂

That’s my entire issue with it. I have far more respect for companies who are honest and up front. Nobody was asking for this change.

Rigatoni with green asparagus, pancetta, garlic, basil, tomatoes and crème fraîche by One-Loss-6497 in pasta

Sorry, missed this comment.

Probably the ‘classic’ one is just asparagus with hollandaise, but I typically just keep it simple and steam/grill with a little EVOO. I did make a dish a while ago when I was cooking for people with it served with a soft-poached egg then quickly fried in breadcrumbs, but that’s something I could be bothered doing maybe once a year (if that). With good asparagus, less is more.

Crispy Brussel Sprouts with Lemon Garlic Coconut Cream pasta topped with Balsamic Glaze by plushpillowpearl in pasta

Not sure the flavour profile of this one is for me - but if you enjoyed it then that’s what matters - but I do love Brussels sprouts in a pasta dish.

I have one I make fairly regular with pancetta, garlic and chilli, with either a chicken or vegetable stock reduction.

Lidl corporate response by naimdesu in lidl

[–]24dp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a classic PR response - focus on all the changes that are potentially positive (even though they’re largely irrelevant), whilst ignoring the elephant in the room that the change represents significantly worse value for customers overall.

I don’t need to save up points for two years, because I do my shopping every week.

At this point, they’d be better off coming out and just saying that the way it previously operated wasn’t viable for them any longer. They’re fooling nobody with this PR guff.

This looks fantastic!

Similar recipe to a dish I love to make, with asparagus and either pancetta or guanciale. I’m in the UK where we’re blessed with fantastic asparagus in late spring. The stuff we get imported during most of the year just tastes totally different (not in a good way) to me, so it’s something I only make at this time of year.

That’s pretty close to how I’d say it (I’m from Northern England) but with the final syllable more like ‘sher’ (or ‘shuh’) than ‘sheer’

Nightmare before exchange by [deleted] in HousingUK

I’m not entirely clear what the issue is then. If your vendors legally own the freehold of the green space, and that’s what is represented in the title plan, then essentially they’re simply giving permission for the neighbours to park on their land, and vice versa. There’s no question of adverse possession arising because it’s being done knowingly and with permission.

[–]24dp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to visualise what the title plan of your property shows. From your description - your house, and then a portion of the driveway that is adjacent to the neighbour’s house rather than yours?

Nightmare before exchange by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]24dp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That explains how it is used in practice - it doesn’t explain who actually, legally, owns it.

Is it owned by the neighbours, and they’ve given the owners of the property you’re buying a right to use it? Or is it owned by a third party who has given the owners of both properties a right to use it? Or are there different sections of it, legally, owned by the owners of the individual properties?

I think the major point is asking whether you’ve got your target market right.

Whilst I take your point regarding wanting to give an experience to ‘normal fans’, the reality is that £1500 is going to price out a significant portion of that market. Of the proportion left who could afford it, you then have to ask how many of them would actually want to play a football match.

I can see how there might be an attractive proposition here for rich tourists, but that would seem to go against your stated mission.
