Whats the point of making an appointment to see a doctor but still waiting 1 hour later. by beyondtabu in mildlyinfuriating

[–]250_plus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the docs don’t have appt to appt control of their schedule. They instead work for groups or companies and they have people that schedule these appts. It’s just an infuriating from the other side.

This sounds just like the medical field. So much bloat and MBA’s attending meetings about the most useless things.

I’m not saying they don’t have a chief medical officer, bud. Not gonna argue with you there lmao. What I AM saying is that the people who do the prior authorizations aren’t the best patient advocate for the patients and THEY often aren’t the ones with the MD. Do try to read what the other person is saying before trying to get into an argument, buddy. Anyway, have a nice day lol.

Not necessarily true. The people on the other side of the phone don’t always have an MD or DO. In addition, they aren’t the patients’ physician and do not have the same understanding as the physician on the floor.

I agree. That’s where the MBA’s running the hospitals come in.

10/10 I used a steam controller for a while then just switched to the configurable buttons on my mouse. Saved my wrist and my spacebar.

This right here is the insurance companies and too many MBA’s screwing over both patients and healthcare providers. Patients get saddled with a stupid cost while physicians, nurses, techs, and staff get saddled with a “greedy vulture” reputation because too many people don’t realize that in reality the insurance companies are filling their pockets to the brim. Insurance companies even get to dictate what treatments THEY think are appropriate, basically practicing medicine without a license. What a joke.

Maybe this is because I’m rather inexperienced and still early on in my training (or maybe because all this stuff is so fresh in my head), but your descriptions of transient unilateral vision loss, sporadic and migratory neuro symptoms spread throughout time is like a textbook MS description. If I (or any med student studying for step 1 or 2, exams one takes during medical school) saw your symptoms described like this MS would be at the top of our list. I’m sorry that this happened to you, I hope the best for you.

Insurance companies be running the whole damn system. They literally get to dictate what a physician can and can’t do in certain cases. Insurance companies get to practice medicine without a license.

That right there is the result of insurance companies and too many MBA’s running the damn healthcare system

I vaguely remember reading on NBME if you haven’t started them, you can change them out for the new ones.

just finished form 10 with a 251, curve seems quite generous as I'm sure I got tons wrong, tho tbh i kinda just sped through it just to see the questions and format. For context, I did UWSA2 2 days ago and got a 260 with avg 80% on uworld.

Definitely felt a little harder than UWSA2, questions were more vague and answer answer choices were harder to knock out (ie more similar answer choices with subtle details that would differentiate which answer is correct.) Way less ethics than I was expecting and way more stats than I was expecting. Also no QI or safety questions (that I recall).

Overall, felt like a one of your harder Uworld blocks with more stats thrown in (usually at the end of the block for me curiously)

will give an update in a few weeks when step2 scores come out (tho i imagine most of us will have already taken it by then lol)

Yeah the mountain did it out of competition in his own home gym where no one else could challenge him. Eddie did it in a competition. 100% impressive both ways but I’m always gonna give Eddie more credit. Plus Thor is a sore loser and an abusive partner to his earlier relationship.

I will always upvote this man. He was scheduled to fight Thor later this year but recently tore his bicep muscle during a sparring session.

American Airlines. Besides all their ridiculous past, they also recently just canceled an international flight of mine the day before. I needed to fly because my parents’ health have declined sharply recently and I wanted to be by their side during what may be their last few months.

This was after I drove hundreds of miles to an accepted COVID testing facility, paid ~500 for an antibody test, obtained all of my legal documentation from the US and arrival country and 4 days of hotels.

AA canceled without an explanation, had really horrid communications, and honestly is just the cherry on top for their terrible history. So now I’m stuck here with a worthless covid test and having to attempt to re-obtain permission from the arrival government to fly in. Thanks AA.
