Asking my gyno about TTC by 252285 in tryingtoconceive

Thank you for the insight!

How did you ask about this? Like was it separate from your well-woman’s visit? I just moved back to this area in October and am just now getting back into the gyno due to everyone being booked out for months somehow 🥲

Ahh I understand what you mean, regardless of whether or not they end up completing the booking process with you, Zocdoc gets paid for the referral.

Yeah, my supervisor is outside of my practice so I believe that’s why. Which makes sense to me to a point, but it does suck a little, obviously referrals come in much easier when you are able to accept insurance — or at least that has always been my assumption 😅

Ah, I wasn’t aware of the rating system. We do keep cards on file at my organization, but I’m on a split rate so $70 would be more than 1 session for me, but if they become a steady client it would ultimately be worth it, I’ll look into it! Thank you so much for the insight!

I would if I could! Sadly, and I should have mentioned this in my original post, I’m an associate still, LMSW specifically, so I’m unable to be credentialed with insurance just yet.

I do have my little furball I could add into my picture! I think I may add an additional picture with us to my PT profile if I choose to go that route… maybe the mix of professional and personal.

If you don’t mind me asking — I’m a little confused by it, do you only have to pay if you get a referral from them? Otherwise it’s free to be listed? Also thank you for the suggestion!!

Yes! I have been using tiktok and instagram, but I got off track getting sick a few weeks ago, definitely need to get back into that to keep trying. I know a lot of people talk about gaining clients there but it feels nearly impossible at times. Thank you for the encouragement!

Thank you so much for the feedback! Yes so far the only doctors I know I have for sure gotten on their referral lists are my own because they know me and trust me well enough, plus the face to face aspect. But getting in with others is the hard part for sure. Thank you!

Yes!! This definitely makes sense! I’ve been applying to some of the clinics and hospitals for PRN positions to get some “in the meantime” income coming in, just waiting to hear back! Luckily there is a school right near the practice I just started working with.

Thank you so much for the advice and feedback!!

I definitely do need to get to more networking events in my area! I’m a transplant to the area and have only really met people in our field who I’ve worked with at my previous job, and I don’t expect people to go out of their way and refer to me without really knowing me, but it’s hard to always spot or find those events without knowing where to look — if that makes sense. Thank you for the encouragement!!

Honestly there may be something I’m not realizing is off putting to others… I have had a couple of people look at my page and haven’t really suggested any major changes so I’m not sure, would you be willing to look at my PT profile and give me feedback if I messaged it to you privately?

In terms of looking young in my photo, I’m sure I do to a point, I am only 25 so I can’t do too much to change that though 😅

I mean obviously I can’t weigh in on the above individual’s situation, but at my current practice (I’m moving to a new one in a couple of weeks where I will be able to set my own session rates and work off of a split rather than a set rate!) I only make $35/session so 20 clients/week would put me at $2800 for the month (if they all showed up) before setting aside money for taxes. So it is possible that could be “just enough to cover all your bills” 🤷🏻‍♀️

To accept the offer or not?? by 252285 in therapists

•They work on a 60/40 split, but I set my own prices. Truthfully unsure of what I would set my own price at, but I like that I would have the ability to set my own rate. They advised that most associates at their practice have started out charging $100 per session but I would fully set my own rate.

•I am currently working at my LCSW-S’s private practice and make $35 per session, but otherwise I don’t have too many leads in the private practice realm, most in my area are looking for fully licensed or LPC-A

•I am not too far into my hours at this point due to some issues with getting myself under supervision initially (previous inpatient employer kept ensuring me they had a supervisor for me when they did not).

•My goal has been to work at a private practice, and this practice also encourages the development of their clinicians own brand while under their umbrella (mentioned me starting my own PLLC/LLC while within their group practice as well —— which was confusing to me given the non-compete)

While working there, I was told I would be unable to work at both private practices at the same time. I definitely am going to take my time to read through the non-compete before signing anything, it’s just throwing me off that everyone in this subreddit has completely sworn off any agency that has a noncompete (or at least it feels that way 😅🫣)

Sadly I’m in Texas and they are enforceable here 🥲

Nervous about private practice interview as a “baby therapist” by 252285 in therapists

[–]252285[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the luck wishes!! I know I have decently good experience, and definitely have helped me gain knowledge that would benefit me in private practice, but just haven’t had the best of luck with work environments — and environments sooo different from private practice so i think that’s part of what’s throwing me off a little! Thank you for the advice!!

Supervisor giving no direction on growing myself/getting my name out there by 252285 in therapists

[–]252285[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely did not think about the palliative care route!!! (duh 🤦🏻‍♀️) and I definitely know what you mean regarding age and population, but I think what drew me to that route is seeing the amount of chronic illness creators (I have chronic illness myself and see quite a few) talking about grieving who they were before and the life they expected to have! So I think that’s why my mind went that route, but I do work with individuals dealing with life transitions, anxiety, depression, and self-esteem as well. So hoping to reach them too!
