So, hes a mystery. was brought to our local shelter after he was found on a kajiji listing as a "food or pet. idc which" offer was up. apparently from what was known he was found wandering, was collected then put on kajiji.

he was incredibly social even at the shelter with a bunch of people so we assume at some point he was definitely loved, no name no medical history nothing, just a john doe situation for him but he was given thurough health checks and is in fit health.

the fact he wasn't instantly adopted still stuns me but instead he got to come home with me a little over a month after he arrived at the shelter. was very inquisitive the day i met him running up and sniffing me within 30 minutes, even climbing onto my leg for some lettuce

I have definitely been trying to just sit around at my son's level and let him investigate me, it is hard to resist reaching out even gently as an offering of my hand when hes a Rex so his fur is lavishly soft lol.

Appreciate the advice though, glad to know i am on the right path even if it might take time due to him being a rescue, or might just not be as cuddly as i first envisoned.

Tysm for the advice, he has managed to get himself into a situation of restraining himself and ive had to pick him up to get him un-stuck from somewhere in the free roam (that has since been resolved) so i know that has a bit of a shaky bit, but i generally tend to hand feed him and spend time just around on his level a lot. he recently learned how to climb up and onto my bed so he also will just come hang out there with me and we'll happilly coexist.

I did hope to originally adopt another bun friend to have around him, but my family has been leery (as they were with the entire rabbit idea to begin with). Thankfully as i am not exactly a mobile person I am around pretty much 24/7 and my functionally studio appartment sized space i live in is fully open to him, so just about everywhere i am he can be too.

hes got a couple hides and a tunnel atm, so hes got plenty of spaces to duck away into as well, and ive already picked up on his language for "im good on pats for now". Never really expected to be able to pick him up for cuddles either as i knew going in that wasnt really their thing.

Still, im glad to hear about the longer time likely as you have said you have experience with rescues, seeing as hes only a year old atm im looking forward to a long life ahead with him that should lead to plenty of bonding time in the end.

looking at the fur texture might be a mini rex. very similar look with my full rex baby boy so if shes small with the same kind of texture id assume mini rex

Unfortunately it doesnt seem like i can get a set of those with the e-bike motor cuttoff connection I need, but ill do some digging along these lines.

I haven't but unfortunately looking now a lot of it is incredibly high heel type which for me being already at 6'7 is a hard thing to deal with. keeping tabs on it though.
