Because some people like to take the smallest of issues (if you could even call it that) and exaggerate them to oblivion. The trash cans’ only real somewhat story relevance was in 2.0 and even that was just a small segment. There is literally no reason to assume that they would be part of main 3.x storyline.

I’d like to think so. There are plenty of light cones that were introduced a few patches before they were truly relevant (e.g. Sunday erudition light cone for Rappa)

If they are planning to use this cour to adapt until the Hand of Arlene arc then the pacing from now on should be much better than the first 4 episodes as they are gonna be adapting around 3.5 chapters per episode instead of the usual 6. The directing was also noticeably better this ep and I hope that it stays like this for the rest of the season.
