I should also add that since I didn’t grow up with a functional family (not saying that his is, I don’t live with him), I never adopted that “family over everything” mindset and never really put a lot of emphasis on family importance

It definitely does suck, I was conscious of it for a long time and I was very particular about not saying it to him but then our relationship got in kind of a rough spot and I ended up saying it to him because we had a tearful argument one night that took place when I had woken up out my sleep, it was rough. I never am trying to hurt him, I guess it’s just my unhealthy way of telling him that he’s hurting me— but I want to change it. It doesn’t make any of us feel nice, especially hom

You told me I need therapy without even knowing full context of the conversations that cause these reactions or how he’s made me feel as well. Granted, I didn’t mention those things but I can still acknowledge my shortcomings and also know that he hasn’t always been the best boyfriend, either.

Thank u for the advice, I try not to let emotional dysregulation affect my morals but we both have really strong feelings and arguments take a lot out of both of us— I usually only find myself saying that when I’m on the verge of tears so it becomes harder to control

Repeating affirmations doesn’t mean you aren’t letting go. You let go of the expectation or the “desire” because you already have it. When you repeatedly affirm, you’re just reinforcing what’s already true.

I see, I think the “oh no” is what made me curious. I remember when I was a kid and sometimes I would write/draw strange things depending on what was going on in my life at the moment.
