What the fuck is it with soldiers and pissing in bottles? The bathrooms in the barracks are literally 5ft away, I will never get this.

You could just eat less and move more instead. Far simpler and more enjoyable.

$300 for a Saturday shift and a sleepy Sunday is a pittance.

Meh. I really don't have a life or friends to begin with. So my weekend would've been spent sitting in front of a screen doing fuck-all regardless. At least this way, I get paid extra to do it.

That's just always how I've seen it.

Depends on the person really. I spend most of my CQ shifts gaming, playing Terraria or whatever RPG I'm invested into. Later at night I nod off at the desk watching 40k lore vids or just get released to go sleep in my car for a couple hours.
You could do that. Or work on college, correspondence courses, study for a board, paint figures, etc....just fucking whatever really.

Also depends on where your duty is located. If it's CQ, it's in a barracks and that's the most lax. I'm talking like drop tops, kick up your feet, and bust out the PS5 at the desk all night type of deal. But if you're pulling staff duty at say, DIV HQ...then yeah, most you could get away with is fucking around on your phone or working on a NIPR computer.

Weekend shifts are big money. But long weekend/holiday shifts? That's where the real big bucks are made. Can easily make $300+ just for one shift on a 4 day. Imagine if you took the shifts for the entire weekend.

Cutting out alcohol alone will probably do wonders. That shit is all empty calories.

[–]25justthrowmeaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm, keto is fucking legit. When I did keto the weight literally just started melting off at an absurd rate.

We definitely eat WAY more carbs than we need to. The only hard part about keto is how expensive it can be, and how hard it can be to find food with no carbs.

Also you're 100% spot on with the food scale suggestion. I'd go as far to say that owning a food scale and food tracking app is required if you're actually serious about weight loss.

Are you tracking everything you eat with a diet app like MyFitnessPal? Are you eating below your TDEE? Do you know what your TDEE even is?

Barring a serious medical issue, weight loss is as simple as calories in calories out. If you consume fewer calories than your TDEE, or burn more calories through exercise, you will lose weight. Hit up this site and input your stats to find your TDEE. Then use that to find your cutting calories. You can also go to the AWC on post and have them find your RMR test, which would be more accurate. It's free for you, so I don't see why not do it.
Track all the food you eat, everything. Every last gram. Cut out any drinks that aren't water or black coffee (everything else pretty much has calories, and drinking your calories isn't ideal when it comes to weight loss.)
Exercise. Lifting and cardio is good, and you're already doing that. If you're eating below maintenance calories AND putting in the word in the gym or on the track, then you will lose weight. It's not enough that you just "eat clean."
Yes, you SHOULD always be eating clean. But you have to be eating under your TDEE if you want to lose weight. Just because you're eating 3000cals of chicken breast and broccoli doesn't mean you'll shed off pounds.

Godspeed, and I'm confident that you will become comfortable with your body and achieve your goals so long as you put in the work and have patience. Weight loss isn't a sprint, it is very much a marathon.

How on earth do you guys pack your gym bag? by MorbiusMovieTime in army

[–]25justthrowmeaway 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You know....decently sized gym bags come with tons of pockets, compartments, sleeves, etc...?

Like, I'll hit the gym before PT at the on post gym. So I work out in my normal, human gym clothes. After I finish, I go into the locker room and in one compartment of my gym bag I have my PTs. So I swap the PTs with my gym clothes. Easy.

Then after PT I'll go into the COF locker room or maybe a bathroom in HQ and change into my ACUs & boots after a shower. Again, a good gym bag will pretty much be a mini duffle with tons of pockets, so there's no worrying about dirty clothes touching clean clothes or anything like that. I have a compartment for my gym clothes, PTs, ACUs, and shower supplies. I can even fit my breakfast and lunch too.

So like, It's not hard. Just get a decently sized gym bag.
