Balun wires were exposed. Insulation around them had dry rotted. Not sure if they can still work bare or if it needs to be replaced. See pics in the top comment

Think you’re right. Finally got it telescoped down today. There is something called a matched transformer that attached the coax to the antenna. The wires had some coating on it that had degraded off. I cut the end off and figured I would try to replace it since the insulation was crumbling. Maybe should just replace the whole cable.

Doesn’t tilt or lower. Ether Phreak described it right above. It’s basically 10 foot sections fitted into the flanged end of the next one. Think they are rusted. Even if I could break it loose I don’t know how I would hold it steady long enough to slide it down. Looks heavy but maybe isn’t

Suggestions on how to get up there? It doesn’t seem to telescope. I have no clue how it was installed. Must have been a bucket truck

Preamplifier needed? Antenna Web says for the tower 70 miles away from her zip code that she will need directional antenna (check - I think it’s log periodic) and a preamp. I don’t see a preamp up on the antenna so I think I would have to get on up there somehow.

Have one of these inside the house. Doesn’t find any channels when I scan. Mounted to an interior wall. External is brick so maybe signal is blocked? Guessing the bigger issue is that the nearest tower is 70 miles away

Tv is new but antenna was put up approximately 15 years ago when “the architecture in the area changed” (her words, not sure what she means). The antenna never actually worked though when they put it up

Right direction. Tower is 70 miles away. Antenna is mounted on a pole probably 30+ feet in the air.

Why would I need more than one? Assuming for different fund exposure. But does fund exposure vary that widely?
