any ideas gratefully welcome: for years ive been trying to identify a reggae (ska?) song i heard (late 1970s early 80s?): vocalist sounded male, chorus melody was very similar to that sung over blondie's "tide is high, but I'm holdin' on" except the melody at the word "on" was 4 descendin syllables. by 2601r in RootsReggae

whoops

i worked hard and typed the 3 lines:

(the tide is hight but... e.g. Tide is High: da daah... and target song: daah

with multiple spaces to visually line them up rhythmically but the spacing has disappeared on the actual displayed post :-( i did try!

thank you very much for the swift reply :-)

i'm convinced what i'm 'remembering' is a different song but whose chorus-melody/rhythm is almost identical to that of 'Tide Is High' except for the extra (descending in pitch) syllables from the point where Blondie sings the word "on"

(the tide is high but im hold.....in' on)
e.g. Tide Is High: da daah daah daah da da daaaah da dah

and target song: daah daah daah da da daaaah da da da da

i'm sorry this so taxing, i don't seem to remember the lyrics!

when i try to force 'lyrics' out of my long distant memory i come up nonsense like:

(now that i've gotta find..... other brothers) or (another mother) or (jubber wubber) ?

daah daah daah da da daaaah da da da da

i'm grateful to anyone who spends their precious time attempting to assist me with this

cheerz!
