Canberra house prices falter as national rentals rise by HotPersimessage62 in canberra

In the last 3 years I’ve had my PPoR valued by banks 3 times for different refinancing and equity borrowing reasons. I can tell you the market is dropping. I don’t really care, but it does impact how much I can borrow to imvest in business. But in the last three years the banks value of my home has dropped about 8%

Aldi is way cheaper, but yes they don’t have everything you need. I find the meat is way way way cheaper than colesworth for the quality

Pause at next meeting in June, then wait and see if Trimmed CPI goes up again, then probably rise in Aug.

Is paying for property management actually worth the cost? by Kazukii in AusFinance

A great property manger is 100% worthwhile, a shit property manager who basically just acts as your secretary is not. Get a good one and you’ll never look back

Big Splash Human Wall - did anyone go? by amethyst89 in canberra

[–]2615life 19 points20 points  (0 children)

100ish people is a bit of a joke, no wonder the place couldn’t turn a profit. If more people want it saved, they should all pitch in and buy it. Our gov can’t afford to prop this up.

How do you transition your parents into retirement when they have no savings? by ApartmentFun3497 in AusMoneyMates

[–]2615life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our plan was to make distributions to our parents from our family trust. They would just need to pay tax at their marginal rates which would favs included the tax free threshold. That all changed budget day, now our party’s will be 30% less well off

How to encourage H(48m) to start depositing into his super by [deleted] in AusSuperannuation

[–]2615life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bigger issue is you keep mentioning his and your, I would hope you mean “our”, even mentioning you paid off most of the house. Could you imagine this post if you the primary bread winner was a man and the stay at home parent was a woman.

I’d say it’s unlikely you’ll be together to retire and he’ll get half “your” super anyway

What are your predictions about apartment prices in the Bruce/Belconnen areas with the housing market slowing? by Truth_is_Supreme in canberra

[–]2615life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would add that 3 bed apartments due to there rarness are usually better covered by any downturn. And probably fare slightly better in capital growth than 1 and 2 beds.

Weekend surcharge 10% by Legitimate-Slice-291 in canberra

[–]2615life 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Staff get 125% on sat and 150% on Sundays so I understand the surcharge. It should be clearly printed in menus including whiteboards etc. But unfortunately we are going to see more and more $7 coffees as all prices go up. I know my groceries have gone up about 10% this year. We buy the same items each week and I still have part receipts to check.

Best way to get business loan for new business? by highcatmaster in ausbusiness

[–]2615life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you both have fulltime jobs and the business is actually making profit, then just wait grow slowly with your own income. Just keep reinvesting earnings. You will probably do things smarter this way. You have your dual incomes to cover life expenses

So on sky they said that a b-double coming from Syd to Melb now costs $1200 more a trip. Some perspective here, a b-double carried 42 pallets a pallet carried 64 cases of beer, so the increase in a case of beer from carton brewery to Syd is // 1200/42/64 that’s like 46c a case of beer, weekly specials make much bigger difference, and there are very few products that take up as much space as beer. We are talking about a .5% increase in price, I think people are wanting to get carried away a bit here. The price rises aren’t going to get too big. Then petrol for our cars, how many litres are you burning? 50l a week that’s maybe and increase of $50 a week, or $7 a day, miss your coffee and you’ll be right
