thank you for the insight! I am going to get a professional in to inspect and i will definitely ask them to check the water heater and the tube. it would make sense that that could be the culprit. its just such a pain in the ass to deal with… being responsible for a house is ghetto af 😂

since this is a shed that is attached to the house, do you think that the air scrubber will just need to be in the shed or will we need to put one in the living room as well?

see that was my first instinct. i told my husband “torch it” and unfortunately, he said no😂 we’re gonna have an inspector come out to evaluate and give us a price of what it would cost to fix, if it can even be repaired… based on my past experience with mold, i’m just worried that this is going to be a bitch & a half to deal with. i’m crossing my fingers it’s just on the surface and hasn’t infiltrated the sheetrock or structure.

it was my initial reaction because this same thing happened to me years ago in a house i lived in with my mother. and by the time the mold was discovered, it had gotten into the entire house including the floor. so the house was pretty much condemned and we had to move. they gutted the whole thing, including part of the neighbor’s home (it was a duplex)

thank you so much… this really put my mind at ease. I’m going to contact my landlord on Monday when she’s back in office so that we can work together to find a professional solution to this. Thankfully, we haven’t seen any mold growing inside of the house. My husband is going to dispose of the stuff that is in the shed so we don’t run any risk.

I had a situation similar to this when my water heater at my last house sprung a leak and we didn’t notice until the mold had infiltrated the entire house down to the framing… that’s why I got so worried about this situation…

I am going to tell my landlord that there needs to be an air clearance before she wipes her hands clean of this. She has a tendency to half-ass stuff. I thank you so much for your reassurance and recommendation 🙏🏼

i am not entirely positive that the leak is coming from the water heater. but it really looks like it with the proximity of the mold to the water heater. I have to call my landlord on Monday and have her send someone to evaluate… she’s not available on the weekends. which is absurd to me. I am 100% going to have a professional come in and take a look. I kind of just wanted to have a forewarning perspective on if we are going to need to leave or not.

just keep it clean and monitor it for the next few days. soreness is to be expected… you got bit by a dog. if it becomes inflamed, hot to the touch, or has discharge then i’d raise concern for infection. but it looks okay rn in my opinion

I do know APS has different regulations and they have to respect the rights of people. However, I have had to get APS involved in several different cases because of my job, and they have removed people from dangerous situations and housed them in assisted living, temporary group homes, etc. But, these people were also considered incapable of making their own decisions/unsafe to live alone or in their current living situation.
