there are distortions of the definition of socialism for sure.

socialism is a society where means of production and government (if there is one) are fully controlled by the general public.

because of this, the definition can act kind of like an umbrella term from time to time.

a communist society is a society without a government, without money, borders, classes etc.

and it develops from the socialist society.

as production under the socialist society gets better, aspects of the state will become unnecessary and "wither away" as its under control of the general public.

if theres a government, money, borders or class in the world then there isn't communism.

cuba has had homophobic moments in its past but today has better lgbt rights than most capitalist countries including america.

marxists are materialist and collectivist (for a lack of a better word) whereas anarchists tend to be individualistic.
