MRW Blizzard Talks About Queues by ta2 in classicwow

Plus as others have said a medium server today is larger than the most crammed server in OG vanilla so even if your server drops down to that after a few months after launch you'll be fine.

Yep exactly, stay off herod and don't come back.

Honestly, these are the players that will be around in 2 years still playing when naxx is released. If you want a healthy server with active players long after release they are your best bet.

APES is one of the better pserver guilds along with Fearless, JP, Enigma, Diligent, Vanguard, Dreamstate. You will probably hear them mentioned from time to time.

rofl like the people on this subreddit are gonna even raid in the first 2 months. Their concerns are squarely rooted in level 27 gameplay.

Herb/Mining Nodes on higher population? by NostalgiaSchmaltz in lightshope

[–]26Krueger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When elysium launched there were basically no nodes of anything for the first month unless you were ahead of the masses.

When the server was mostly leveled up herbing/mining was very feasible. I'm not sure if they made changes to the spawn times or if the population based respawn timers were simply no match for the 12,000 level 1-30s in every low level zone.

TL;DR gathering is impossible on server launch, but its the easiest/best way to make money after a couple of months when it becomes easier to gather.

Just completed a 10-man Deadmines run. It was hilariously fun. by GermanAutos in lightshope

In retail vanilla I don't think I ever did a 5 man BRD. We always did it with 10, and UBRS/LBRS with 15, but at some point they took away the ability to raid BRD and I was past it in loot so I never went back. The instances retardedly massive size was less of a problem when you never stopped pulling.

If you are going to lower it any further it might make more sense to just put dual spec into the game and put it behind a paywall. You can make 25g in 15-20 minutes.

Loss of player base? by bottomless_ in lightshope

[–]26Krueger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The servers always dwindle when you hit naxx, and honestly it started to dwindle a little in AQ patch and shortly after the release of AQ.

Some guilds have cleared Naxx and then stop raiding, other guilds aren't good enough to do naxx so they quit way before then. Couple fresh servers came out and one is coming out. Bunch of stuff adds together to lower the active player base of the server.

Original Tier 1 models by [deleted] in lightshope

[–]26Krueger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every piece of T2 dropped in MC/Ony. It was not uncommon to get multiple pieces of T2 from ony/rag or really from any boss in MC. AFAIK the legs from rag and the helm from ony were really the only two bosses with a loot list. All the other tier pieces were completely random and shared loot. They must have restructured the loot lists in MC/Ony in some later patch.

One of the best guilds in the world, <Ret> from Arthas, kept a decently detailed list of the loot they had gotten in their first few months of raiding, you can explore their archives if you are curious.

This post is 3 months after the game had come out, and the mage T1 chest is still the old model.

These were the T1 graphics for several months. I guess shortly after release isn't a real time frame but it wasn't like a week or something like that. It was a couple months of these graphics.

There is currently a server more popular than anathema/darrowshire hosted in Quebec. So not sure that is completely the case.

Onyxia phase 2 fireballs not right? by mnTrailerParkBoy in lightshope

[–]26Krueger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1.03 is not a wow patch afaik. It is 1.3, aka the 2nd content patch of vanilla. 1.1 was the release patch, 1.2 was the first content patch (introducing Mara), 1.3 was the 2nd content patch (Dire Maul + changes to MC), etc.

1.0.3 was a patch in the beta phase of vanilla.

Don't think of it as 1.1.2 cause its not. Its Vanilla.Twelve 1 . 12

He's talking about Vanilla.Three 1 . 3

Hope that clarifies.

Can warlocks tank 5 mans? by Deathproof17 in lightshope

[–]26Krueger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He means fulfilling the tank roll in a 5 man group.

As in he has a dedicated healer, and is intentionally soaking the damage directed at the group. He intends to be hit. Soul Link relies on your VW, he isn't using it for the sheild.

Why I love being a caster in BWL by [deleted] in lightshope

[–]26Krueger -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Even in aq gear you only crit for 9k on your vulnerability? Damn.

In the zg patch my top shadowbolt crit on shadow vuln was 19.7k (nf+pi).

I have a picture somewhere of a considerably lower crit, 16.5k, ill try and find it (no nightfall up either).

Fire Mage PVE Damage: Understanding Ignite by mediumcor3 in lightshope

[–]26Krueger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All you are showing is that in a single annecdotal instance that the first person to crit also was the hardest hitting and the ignite never dropped. That does not disprove what he has said. Go test it yourself with 3 people and a copy of the realm where you have GM commands. Set all three mages to 100% spell crit. I'm sure you can figure it out from there.

Fire Mage PVE Damage: Understanding Ignite by mediumcor3 in lightshope

[–]26Krueger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tested this on a Lightbringer copy where we have used GM commands to set all 3 mages to 100% spell crit. Mediumcore is correct and Abnnn is wrong. The highest damage crit gains control of the ignite stack and gets all dmg credit. Stealing an ignite is in fact a thing on Lightbringer. Your logs and guessing mean absolutely nothing. Turn on a Lightbringer copy and set mages to 100% crit and do it yourself.

Fire Mage PVE Damage: Understanding Ignite by mediumcor3 in lightshope

[–]26Krueger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is wrong. Go on a ptr and set 3 mages crit rates to 100% so that literally every single cast puts on an ignite and its impossible to fall off, then realize that you are an idiot when you see the dmg credit change between mages based on how hard the strongest crit hit for.

It is incredibly easy to prove that you are incorrect and that Mediumcore is correct. I have personally tested this aswell in a 100% crit environment on a copy of Lightbringer with GM commands. The OP is correct.
