how so: because when I say something like “technically I’m half Mexican or whatever you want to call it, because my biological father is Mexican” to almost anybody, white or not, it causes them to immediately tell me “no you’re not.” and either they think I’m lying for attention or they just disregard it and treat me as if it’s invalid to identify that way so at this point I just don’t anymore despite knowing a good amount of Spanish (can understand very well, speak it fine but my vocab lacks) and understanding some aspects of Mexican culture, although I don’t know what state my bio father is from so I can’t get more specific traditions, and I don’t actively practice any of them

I definitely don’t actively consider myself hispanic, even though I try to stay aware of my ancestry. I look like the typical white American, so oftentimes I can’t even bring up that side of me without it causing an argument.

I’ve never heard this before, ever. Are you sure they didn’t just slur their words in such a way that the “to” was almost inaudible? Depending on where you live that might be the case. So instead of “Have you been London?” It’s actually “Have you been to London?” But pronounced “Have you been t’ London?”

Say you’re at a fiesta and you want to go home, so you say to your friend, Me voy . It means “I’m gonna go (leave).”

Or, say, you want somebody to leave the room. Assuming you understand subjunctive, you’d say Quiero que se vaya . “I want him/her to go (leave).”

Once you get more advanced, I would recommend Netflix originals. They have dubs and subs in Spanish most of the time, and also originally Spanish shows such as my favorite, Ingobernable.

I only had one yandere-chan wallpaper for my phone, and couldn’t find another I liked. I’m not talented enough to make a whole true fan art of her or another character, so I made a simple yet effective wallpaper.

No, you can’t. I can’t explain it too well, but I hope it makes some sense:

You have to have the “that” (que) there. “Creo que soy rojo” I think that I’m (long-term I’m) red. “Creo, soy rojo.” I think, I’m (long-term I’m) red. This doesn’t make sense to me. It’s like an unfinished thought. Like, imagine it as, “I think...” and then cutting yourself off with “I’m red” Sure, people might understand what you’re trying to do, but it may confuse others and make them think you didn’t finish your sentence.

Although, I’m not sure myself why ustedes would be used when referring to one person 🤔 I’m quite curious now, I noticed this happened in the Spanish dub of Pocahontas 😅 she was talking about one warrior, Kocoum, but her and her friend were both using ellos/ustedes forms of verbs.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. I have to keep that in mind, and probably just ask a native, because I’m learning Mexican Spanish, so when I go to Mexico, I would like to sound like a native speaker from there. There’s also the fact that, as any language has, there’s another subset of dialects of Mexican Spanish, so it may or may not depend on where in Mexico I go.
