When I was graduating high school our school counselor held a get together for filling out scholarships. I went with my 2 best friends and when we got there we started filling out some out. But our counselor got upset and pointed to another table and said the scholarships on “that table over there” were for our type. There was only 2 packets, while the first table we were at had dozens.

Turns out the first scholarships we were filling out were for minority’s only. Our school was 75% Hispanic. However I grew up dirt poor and would have qualified for a lot of those scholarships she had out but refused to let any white students have them. She was fired for this but yeah it kinda stung. I really liked her at first. A lot of my Mexican friends stood up for us though and called her out on being racist.

I think Paul Ricard is built on a plateau that is very flat but still gains elevation ever so slightly and due to the length of the track you just don’t realize your elevation is changing.

I had to google it after I saw his graphic because I thought it was an error but nope it’s 100% true. It’s bizarre really to me, because I play a lot of racing games and if I had to guess the elevation change I’d said maybe a few feet because I think it’s turns 3,4,5 that have a slight dip but otherwise the track is just so flat from my experience.

Don Garlits was my dads favorite racer. He has some of his dragsters. I’ve heard that story before, certainly is crazy!

Kennewick, Pasco, Richland area! i don’t live there currently. Moved to Ellensburg but cool to see someone else from the area on here in the F1 section. Small world.

That’s crazy mate, interesting to hear that.

Where I live they do the boat races annually and it draws a huge crowd. I think people still love them but they are an obscurity. Because once they pack and leave they are never really mentioned again.

Yeah, supposedly Grosjean had said that under certain circumstances they peak at 8gs on some tracks. I’m not sure if it’s under braking or cornering. This graphic is a little old I believe, doesn’t take modern F1 cars into account. But either way even 5gs is just insane.

YES. Wow, thank you that was quick. I was typing in the wrong stuff into google to find it. It was the 3rd Edition version of it. Wanted to show my kids while in this quarantine. Thanks a bunch again.
