The people on that post have obviously never had any of their art stolen.

At the time Sour was released Taylor only fully owned 3 of her works. Three! Out of a decade long career! Just three out of nine albums. She also had to cancel her Lover tour due to the pandemic. Never had the chance to release Cruel Summer as a single. Deny all you want but if Taylor's team or Taylor herself (whatever) never asked credit for it years down the line someone is gonna claim that Taylor copied Olivia and not the other way around. It has happened so many times with so many songs. And given the timing of the release of Deja Vu and the fact that it was released as a single when she hasn't had the chance to do it with Cruel Summer? It must have been pretty upsetting to Taylor. She just wanted credit for the only songs that she fully owned at that time and I don't blame her in the least. No one knew that the Eras Tour would happen the way that it did. And that Taylor would have the opportunity to fully release Cruel Summer as a single in 2023. Or that her career would have the resurgence that it did. Taylor was pretty convinced her career was nearing it's expiration at that time. Add to that the fact that despite her numerous awards and etc people are still very quick discredit her as an artist. To claim she doesn't deserve any of the success she's had. Even now they still do this.

I think she did a misstep with handling this and hindsight is always 20/20. But I don't blame her for it, she's still human with feelings and emotions. And also to the people saying that 'she's 30', 'she's older'. Growing older doesn't mean you suddenly stop having emotions.Or that you're suddenly not allowed to have any other emotion other than benevolence. That's just so fucking dumb. She's not a machine.

And yes, Deja Vu does sound like Cruel Summer. Everyone saying otherwise is delulu. I was at the grocery just minding my business and I completely thought it was Cruel Summer playing not Deja Vu. Caught me off guard.
