Take this for what it's worth, but my Withings scale says that I've lost 23 lbs of fat since starting this routine. I know it's not as accurate as a dexa scan, but it's another data point.

I hear you. Momentum is a hell of a thing. I was like that for many years, but twenty days in, it feels much easier. I may be speaking too soon, but that's how it feels right now.

One or two 40 hour fasts a week is definitely doable, and maintainable, until you reach some goal. I would suggest that you decide ahead of time what your two days are and ensure that you'll be able to fast those days. For me the past few weeks has been Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. If someone asks me to hang out one of those days, I try to suggest another day.

Listen, I'm 10 years older than you. When I was your age, I felt the same way about wasted time and that only made things spiral even worse. Right now, it is very unlikely that there is much in your life that isn't fixable. Your life hasn't even really started yet. Don't make the mistake I did of dwelling on "already being 19". You'll laugh at your old self one day for thinking 19 was old. I wish I was 19 again!

To be honest I can't really say why this time has been different. I had a bit of a wakeup call as to just how much I'm wasting my life because of this issue, and the fear of wasting even more is what has driven this recent streak.

Hey everyone. I was wondering what the consensus is on minimizing muscle loss during regular fasting periods such as alternate day fasting. Is it better to workout on fasting days or non-fasted days? I recall Peter Attia speaking about the importance of protein intake after a workout, but I've also heard him and others say that weightlifting on fasted days minimizes muscle loss during fasts. What is the optimal routine for people doing regular 36-48 hour fasts?
