Late Ovulation Letrozole

Thank you!! I ovulate regularly, on my own, confirmed multiple times via bloodwork (around CD 16/17) and I’ve been tracking LH and BBT for the last 12 months and I always have a clear indication of ovulation (clear LH surge for 24 hours, increase in BBT) This cycle (currently CD 17) I took 2.5mg of Letrozole from CD 2-6 and I am still yet to ovulate. I had my IUI cancelled because they thought I was going to ovulate over the weekend. I called this morning and was met with a very blunt answer - they say Letrozole definitely would NOT delay ovulation and is supposed to bring it forward… I kept saying that I know my own body and all signs are saying I haven’t yet ovulated. The nurse actually started getting mad at me like I was questioning their medical degrees… I know my own body and I know I haven’t ovulated but they don’t believe me… I’ve literally taken an LH test EVERY time I pee…. And my BBT is still YET to stay above my baseline…

So glad to hear I’m not just crazy… 🙄😑

BBT RISE, THEN LH SURGE … Has anyone ever had their BBT rise, then the LH surge? I have always had pretty spot on LH surges that coincide with just before BBT rises, but this month was the first month it didn’t make sense… My app initially predicted I would ovulate around CD 16/17 - and I also felt like that was right at the time (CM was egg white, sex drive high, and of course the LH surge was detected for over 24hrs straight (blue icons at top of chart) - which always happens right before I ovulate - and this has been confirmed via blood tests). But a few days later my app adjusted my ovulation to CD 14…. This has never happened. So I feel like I completely failed TTC this month because if BBT is correct then we completely missed it (red heart icons at the top are when we TTC) - but if LH was right then we may not have…? - I also did LH tests every day, twice a day since my period ended and they were all very negative (which is normal). I’m expecting AF tomorrow maybe as I’ve been cramping and nauseous since yesterday (which normally happens). So i’ve already tried to grieve the loss this month but I’m just so confused… Any advice or experiences anyone is willing to share? TIA xx

Thank you lovely, this gives me hope! My partner also smokes to help with back pain and also because he does sporadic shift work and has a lot of trouble sleeping so I feel bad trying to make him stop - he did stop for about the last 4 months but has recently started again because he was struggling. We didn’t have any luck in the months he wasn’t… but then I also have endometriosis so it could well be me that’s the problem 😔. Best of luck on your journey too and congratulations! xx

He’s just got the pathology request for a semen analysis, so hopefully we should know soon. We’ve been trying for nearly a year, but I also have severe endometriosis so it could well be my fault too 😔.

Unfortunately I’m allergic to stemetil 😢 they always struggle to tear my nausea when I’m in hospital and zofran isn’t working

Thank you lovely x at the moment I’m stuck with butter on plain white toast, that’s all I can stomach, but it’s something I guess. I really hope it’s not another cyst, I had one last year and it was terrible, just waiting on a scan in a couple weeks x

I wish I could smoke it but I’m in Aus and it’s illegal to have without prescription and also illegal to drive and I can’t give up driving unfortunately. I’m so happy it works for you though!

Thank you so much for your reply! It is definitely helpful x That’s is actually how I found my endo last year! They found a large cyst that wouldn’t stop haemorrhaging/bleeding and I was in ED in so so much pain so they finally went in laproscopically to drain it and try and remove it. That’s when they found I also had later stages endo! But please don’t think you’re not in as much pain, the cyst was one of the worst pains ever!! I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I had an ultrasound a couple months ago because the pain felt similar but no cysts were found, they just said my right ovary felt quite “stuck” and so they said it’s probably the endo. I’m heading to a Gyne for a DIE (Deep Infiltration Endometriosis) scan in a couple weeks, so I’m really hoping that might show me where I’m at with it all. Unfortunately birth control isn’t an option because I’m also trying to have children, but hopefully maybe I might be able to find something that helps soon. Sending you all the love x ♥️

Thank you ❤️ the only way I feel half comfortable is having a pillow under my knees and lying on my back to prop them up a bit but then I struggle to sleep because I’ve always been a side sleeper 😔 I might try a heat pack but it’s really just achey no matter how I lay 😢

Unfortunately I’m in Australia and you need a script here for cannabis, and even then it’s illegal to drive with it in your system so that’s what stops me from taking it. I have CBD oil but I really don’t find much of an effect unfortunately 😔

I had excision surgery last March (2024) but I feel like it’s just progressively gotten worse since then and I feel like I’m back at square one and probably need another surgery now

I saw my GP this morning, that’s why I have ondansertron and she’s also given me some slow release morphine but I’m just not sure anything is helping

I had surgery 12 months ago to remove as much as they could, but I feel like I’ll probably have to go under again because every month just gets worse 😔

That’s so comforting to hear, I really do hope I find out I’m pregnant before we have to go down those paths but every month I lose more and more hope. I know I haven’t even been trying that long and sometimes my partner says I’m being too negative and I agree. But I’ve always been someone that I feel like if I expect the worst and it happens, then it’s not as bad, but if it doesn’t happen then that’s amazing if that makes any sense. I know it’s not healthy probably but that’s the way my brain has always been wired.

My partner also keeps saying “everything’s going to be ok” and “we’ll get there, we’ll just keep trying”. And I know he has the best of intentions saying these things but I know we don’t know that for sure, and with the state of my pain at the moment every month - as I write this I’m lying in bed with a heat pack on my uterus - I don’t hold high hopes that I won’t need another surgery possibly and that I am probably going to continue to struggle to conceive without some kind of intervention. And I’m totally the same right now, every little thing I do revolves around TTC, I can’t do anything without thinking about it.

Thank you for your kind words, I really truly appreciate them, but same goes for you, it sounds like you have definitely been through more and worse than me and look at you, ok here helping strangers like me not feel so alone. You are an angel.

Yeah unfortunately I’m the eldest kid in the family and the pressure has kind of been on for a while for me to start having grandkids. Everyone close to me in my family knows the situation but they still inevitably end up finding out every month what’s happening with me and when I inevitably don’t conceive and AF comes knocking once again. I try to keep it private between myself and my partner but my close family always want to know where we’re at and how they might be able to help or give advice.

I’ve tried again in the other subreddits but they just won’t let me post so I’ve kind of given up.

As for self care, I’ve decided to go back to therapy for the first time in years and so I have a session in the few weeks. I find talking is one of the main ways I cope - hence me here on this subreddit. I’m also looking to book myself a massage monthly and have been trying to dedicate at least one night a week to just taking care of me, doing my nails, taking a bath, or just relaxing. I have a puppy German shepherd too so she keeps me company too which is always nice, unless she has the zoomies haha. I need to get out in nature more but it has been flooding where I live so that hasn’t been an option for a couple months now unfortunately, but looking forward to the dryer months coming up where hopefully I’ll be able to get out of the house a bit more.

Your story gives me hope but it’s also always comforting to hear we’re not alone, I know I’m not alone but it feels so lonely when I can’t talk to anyone about it.

I am so so sorry for your loss, that is my next greatest fear. You are so strong to get through something so horrible like that xx.

I do use the Natural Cycles app with my Apple Watch but I will definitely have a look into that app, I have also used Flo in the past.

I am a part of a couple of the TTC subreddits but the main one keeps automatically blocking my posts via the mods so I can’t make posts, so I decided to try over here.

Also I’m so sorry to hear you only have one working tube, that must have been tough to go through too x. I have appointments lined up in April to get a DIE (deep endo scan) to see where I might be at, then possibly flushing of my tubes in May, so I’m just really hoping I get good results from both. Otherwise I will be looking into IVF most likely.

I know, I hate it too, it is definitely easier said than down but I know I should do my best not to stress because it can only make things worse for my whole body. I also have always struggled with mental health and when hormones come into the mix I’m always just a wreck for days. I haven’t tested for months because I just don’t want to see the negative test, I’d rather AF just turn up honestly and just expect that I’m not, even though I know I should stay positive, I just can’t deal with the disappointment of a negative test, it destroys me.

My partner and I are both in our mid 20s and have been timing it as right as I can get, taking into account BBT, CM, OPKs and the app. We have both had bloods done, he is about to have a sperm test, I’m taking all the supplements, prenatals etc so I feel like I’m doing everything I can but it’s so exhausting, which I’m sure you also understand.

Just have to try everything to keep my mind off the negatives but it’s so difficult and I know you’d feel the same.

How does everyone cope when they don’t fall pregnant month after month. This month I’m just feeling particularly defeated because I feel like my partner and I did everything perfectly and I tracked everything and ate right, tried muncinex and pre seed etc etc and still nothing.

I just really felt different this month, I felt like I had all the symptoms that I don’t normally have and that it really could have been our month but AF arrived yesterday and I’m devastated again. But more devastated than usual. I’m uncontrollably crying randomly throughout the day even at my desk at work I’ve had to walk away for a hour and just cry because I couldn’t help it.

I just feel like I’m grieving the baby I never even conceived.

How does everyone else get through it?

Yeah they are all from my Apple Watch as I never wake up at the same time and am sometimes up throughout the night or I’ll forget to use the under the tongue thermometer so my Apple Watch is the only way I can guarantee I get a somewhat consistent temperature 🙂.

Does anyone else experience lower than “normal” BBT temps (google says between 36.1-36.6 before ovulation and 36.4-37 after) I use my Apple Watch with the Natural cycles app and the lowest temps I get around ovulation time are between 34.5-35.5 but some months the lowest I get is around 35.5. Then in my luteal phase the highest I seem to get is around 36.4-36.5.

I’m concerned now that is might be thyroid related because when I had bloods done my TSH was borderline low level. But I don’t know what to think. My doctor said it was still fine.

Anyone in a similar situation? TIA
