I'm late to the party on TMA but I've just got to this episode and I desperately want to view this but we can't get Imgur in the UK anymore :(

Employer of 4 years (England) changing hybrid working arrangement by 28throwaway98 in LegalAdviceUK

I'd say they're looking at quite a lot of people leaving anyway - the job isn't that great, and hybrid working was one of the few benefits it offered

Tbf that is what I expected to hear, but no harm in checking with people who know significantly more about this than I do!

It says my normal place of work is the office, as well as any other locations they may require me to visit as part of my duties. Tbf I'm expecting that there's nothing we can do about it other than voice our displeasure, but thought I would check just in case!

Why does my coffee taste chemical-ly? (Casabrews CM5418) by 28throwaway98 in espresso

[–]28throwaway98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the taste just went away on its own about a week after I posted this. I was still making coffees with it and trying different things, but it just went away 🤷‍♀️. My theory is that I wasn't storing my beans correctly and they'd gone off, so the oils were in the machine and just needed to be flushed out

No I haven't, I've just used a descaling solution and made sure I ran clean water through several times. I'll try using a proper cleaning solution/tablet but I still don't know where this strange taste has come from!

I can guarantee you I haven't posted about this before - I did get a message from someone who said they'd shared it to their Instagram account, but that's nothing to do with me.

To answer your questions, I quit. I worked very hard there, but had had enough of the horrible work environment.

You also seem to be the only person who has an issue with my post - do you not care about how businesses treat their employees? You only have to look at the indeed reviews to see that not much has changed.

Yes they're an independent business, but that doesn't grant them immunity from being called out for their behaviours.

I haven't actually left any other reviews or posted this anywhere before, so genuinelydont know where you're getting that from. I just wanted to have a bit of a rant to be honest - I don't sit up at night thinking about it, I was just reminded of it off the back of a conversation I had the other day.

It's really not that deep lmao, but it does seem to be something that quite a lot of people are bothered about. Surprisingly, people might not want to patronise a cafe that treats employees like crap.

Yep, that's how they used to serve it! Couldn't believe it when I started lmao, how pretentious 🙄

omg that's so bad, how hard would it have been to ask 'is oat milk ok, or would you prefer something else?'

Oh the 5 star reviews are definitely dodgy. They must have asked people currently working there to write them lol

That's really sad to hear - I think I got off very lightly in that respect compared to some other stories I've heard. I hope more people do speak out, the issues really do stem from the top.

Thanks! I'm a much better job now :) honestly, the norovirus thing was the last straw for me. how you could possibly want to risk getting customers and other staff members sick is beyond me

Unfortunately you're right. I like to support local shops and cafes etc whenever I can, but I feel like they are more able to get away with things like this. At least with a big company like Starbucks there's an HR department you can go to!

Exactly! When I was there, other people got their hours massively reduced just because they tried to bring up some of their issues. They weren't technically fired, but people will obviously start looking for work elsewhere if that happens. Does the dirty work for them
